Zhenguo Temple was first built in the seventh year of Tianhui in the Northern Han Dynasty (963 AD). It was originally named Jingcheng Temple and was renamed Zhenguo Temple during the Ming Dynasty. It has undergone repairs during the Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. Although it has been rebuilt many times, the overall style of the Five Dynasties period is still retained.
