A Great Place in Yunnan to Escape the Heat with Kids

Puzhehei is a summer retreat worth visiting multiple times. I've been there many times, and my kids always look forward to going back. 📍: Puzhehei Scenic Area 🚉Transportation: Direct high-speed train from Kunming Upon arrival, kids will love the tram, sightseeing bus, and even horse-drawn carriages. 🏨Hotel: Puzhehei Muke Qianxun Boutique Resort Beautiful scenery, a swimming pool, delicious breakfast, premium fruits, and stunning night views. 🧳Packing Tips: Bring sandals and a hat. Having visited many times, I rarely go to the paid attractions. Instead, I enjoy the untouched nature—morning and evening walks, hiking, admiring rice fields, feeling the breeze, viewing lotus flowers, and savoring rice noodles while the kids splash around in water fights. Many complain Puzhehei is overpriced and commercialized, but since I go for the lakes and mountains, I skip the paid spots. The rural landscapes alone are breathtaking. If you're looking for an action-packed "special forces" style trip, I don’t recommend it—attractions are scattered and mostly charge fees, even for simple activities like boating (costing hundreds) or taking photos of lotuses. But if you want a leisurely vacation with family, Puzhehei is Yunnan’s top hidden gem. The local snacks are reasonably priced for a tourist area.
