Xichan Ancient Temple in Fuzhou

During my trip to Fuzhou, on the first day, I took a taxi passing by Xichan Temple on Fuzhou Road and saw the sunset glow reflecting on the ancient temple, which was very beautiful. Therefore, I decided to visit Xichan Temple before leaving Fuzhou, and I wanted to do it at dusk. Xichan Temple is near Fuzhou University, making it easily accessible. Xichan Temple is one of the five major Zen temples in Fuzhou and has a significant influence in Southeast Asia. The Siong Lim Temple in Singapore, the Poh Hock Seah Temple in Malaysia, the Nanputuo Temple, the Er Fu Temple, and the Guanyin Temple in Vietnam are all branch temples of Xichan Temple. They are still managed by monks sent from Xichan Temple, and many high-ranking monks and followers from overseas visit every year, making it a window for cultural exchange between Fuzhou and the Southeast Asian region. Xichan Temple is also a great place to enjoy lychees. In 1961, Xichan Temple was announced as one of the first batch of municipal cultural relics protection units in Fuzhou. In 1982, the State Council officially approved Xichan Temple as a national key temple open to the public.
