I visited the 'Chinese-Style Scenery - The Grand Exhibition of Lin Fengmian and Wu Guanzhong's Art' at the China Art Museum (Shanghai Art Museum), which is the largest and most prestigious exhibition of Lin Fengmian and Wu Guanzhong's art in China. The exhibition centers around the exquisite collections of state-owned art institutions in Shanghai, gathering precious collections of Lin Fengmian and Wu Guanzhong from major art institutions in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, and Zhejiang. It deeply analyzes the exploration, achievements, and influence of the two art masters with a new academic context, presenting their 'answers' to the questions of the times - an innovative spirit that integrates Chinese and Western, ancient and modern, and uses art to explore and create the 'Chinese-Style Scenery'. The exhibition features 200 pieces (sets) of artworks covering Chinese paintings, oil paintings, watercolors, sketches, and other categories of fine art created by Lin Fengmian and Wu Guanzhong at different stages of their artistic careers. Among them, the masterpieces from the mature periods of Lin Fengmian and Wu Guanzhong account for about half, making it an unprecedented event.
