[Yamaguchi] A historic and romantic shrine overlooking the sea

We went to Akama Shrine in Shimonoseki, in the west of Yamaguchi Prefecture. 🚗 Akama Shrine is a shrine dedicated to Emperor Antoku, who was defeated in the Genpei War. ⛩️ It is said that Emperor Antoku drowned himself after being told, "There is a capital in the sea," and the shrine looks like the palace of the Dragon King. ⁡ From the shrine, you can see the Kanmon Straits and the fast currents. 🌊 It's romantic to think that a historical battle took place here.
