As we dig into their signature braised pork rice, the first thing we notice is how they use hearty chunks of pork belly instead of the finely minced meat typical of Taiwanese lu rou fan. Each bowl is generously topped with an ajitsuke tamago (flavored soft-boiled egg), crunchy black fungus, tender shiitake mushrooms, pressed tofu, tau pok, and fresh xiao bai cai. The mix of flavors and textures, combined with the deeply savory braising sauce, makes every bite incredibly satisfying. For those of us who love a fattier, melt-in-the-mouth experience, the braised pork belly is a must-try. The pork is braised for a full 24 hours, resulting in an ultra-soft, flavorful bite. If we’re in the mood for something even more premium, the braised pork cheek is a standout—it’s softer and richer, offering an almost buttery texture that melts effortlessly. For something with a bit more texture, the pork shank provides tender meat and fatty skin, adding a delightful contrast to each bite. And for the ultimate indulgence, the braised pork belly set offers the perfect combination of tender meat and succulent fat, creating a satisfying mouthful with every bite. Located on the first floor of Golden Mile Food Centre near the carpark, this stall draws long queues, and it’s easy to see why. The flavors are bold yet comforting, and the variety of pork cuts makes each bowl feel like a complete meal. The nearest MRT, Bugis, is about a 15-minute walk away, but for a meal this good, the short trek is absolutely worth it. We recommend going early because they often sell out before closing time.
