In 1784, most of the village was destroyed by the great fire of Tenmei, but after that, it was rebuilt in preparation for fire, such as replacing the roof with a tile roof and setting up a udatsu, and it still retains the appearance of Edo. In the townscape preservation area, the "Okaya Residence", a mansion that is believed to have been built at the end of the Edo period, is open to the public (Saturdays and Sundays only), and you can see the lattice and the namako wall on the first floor, the insect cage window on the second floor, the lacquer cage construction, and the wavy eaves, etc. In addition, the wealthy merchant "Hattori Housing (Igitaya)" and the squeezing merchant "Takeda Family Housing (Takeda Kabei Shoten)" are also famous.
