In the bustling ancient city of Xi'an, there is a hidden treasure of time—the Gao Family Mansion. It sits quietly at No. 144 Beiyuanmen, like an old man who has weathered the storm, telling the vicissitudes of 400 years. The Gao Family Mansion is not an ordinary ancient residence. It is the former residence of Gao Yuesong, the second place winner in the imperial examination during the Qing Dynasty, and the most completely restored official residence in the ancient city of Xi'an. This three-courtyard, four-entry courtyard is like a historical picture spanning time and space, taking us back to the era of scholars and merchants. When you step into the Gao Family Mansion, the unique brick and wood structure is the first thing that catches your eye. Time has left deep marks on them, but it has also given them a more simple charm. Every brick and tile seems to tell the glory and honor of the Gao family. The most eye-catching part of this courtyard is the "Yingzi Hall." The main hall faces east, welcoming the purple air from the east. This is where guests are received and ceremonies are held. Standing here, I seem to be able to feel the excitement and prosperity of the Gao family when they received guests, and I can imagine the scenes of scholars composing poems and writing calligraphy here. In addition to the magnificent architectural scale and exquisite architectural craftsmanship, the Gao Family Mansion also provides visitors with many ethnic experiences. Folk paper-cutting, painting, and shadow puppetry are all full of cultural atmosphere. Especially the shadow puppetry, with its vivid characters and interesting plots, makes people feel as if they are in an ancient and mysterious world. Here, I seem to have traveled through 400 years of time and had a dialogue with the ancestors of the Gao family. I felt their love for life, their inheritance of culture, and their longing for the future. The Gao Family Mansion is not just an ancient residence, it is a cultural treasure and a witness to history. It has witnessed the vicissitudes of the ancient city of Xi'an and the profoundness of Chinese culture. For visitors who like Han Dynasty courtyards, this is undoubtedly a place not to be missed. When I walked out of the Gao Family Mansion, I was still immersed in that historical memory spanning time and space.
