March / April are the best times to see the bright yellow fields of rapeseed flowers surrounding villages in Anhui - and Lucun is one of those villages you can explore to enjoy an escape into nature. From Shanghai, you can take a high speed train to Huangshan North Train Station, which is only around 2.5-3 hours. Then, to reach Lucun Village, you can either take a bus from Huangshan North or hire a driver for the day. We decided to hire a driver for a day, at 350 RMB per day, to take us around a number of villages in the area. Lucun is located near Hongcun Village, so you could easily schedule in a visit to at least two or three villages in one day if you’re pressed for time. Lucun is one of the smaller villages, charming and tranquil, and is said to be around 1,000 years old. while strolling through, we saw locals simply getting about their day prepping meals, washing clothes or heading out into the fields to work. If you haven't experienced the concept of "the end of a life, no dream to Huizhou", then pick a normal morning, and go to Hongcun to understand. Because I lived in Hongcun for one night, I walked in the empty Hongcun before the tour group arrived in the morning. At this time, the Nanhu Lake and the Moon Marsh were particularly beautiful. I've been to southern Anhui many times and visited countless ancient villages there, but there's only one village that keeps drawing me back, one that always gives me a reason to return—Hongcun. I've met with Hongcun so many times I've lost count, and I'm as familiar with her as everyone else. Winter in Hongcun is the way if your after a relaxing experience, all the other seasons of the year are too crowded. Impossible to navigate through the narrow streets and a big risk of falling into the water - Day 1 we explored Hongcun and ate at the different stalls with local delicacies and we ate at our inn for dinner. To end the day - Day 2 we took a DiDi to nearby town Lu chun at the driver took us for a tour to more relevant spots and he left us at a nearby restaurant of Hongcun for dinner - Day 3 we went on a hike to Huangshan which took us half a day and during the night we went to the TongXi all street in Huangshan city Hongcun and nearby towns are really good for taking pictures of nature or of yourself and friends and family PS if your after a foreigner staying inside of Hongcun buy yourself a ticket to the Scenic Spot beforehand to avoid hassle #historicallandmarks #hongcun #countryside #photoshoot

Luckily, I went, and the scenery in Hongcun is really beautiful! I recommend Hongcun because this is what Huizhou looks like in my dreams. The blue bricks, black tiles, and horse-head walls are typical Huizhou architecture. The Huizhou merchant culture and clan culture are worth learning about in this ancient village that is hundreds of years old.

"The place of a lifetime, no dream of Huizhou" I often saw this quote when planning my summer vacation. Perhaps it doesn't mean what people think it does, but it is enough to guide people there. We traveled from Nanjing to Huangshan and decided to rent a car for a deep tour. The blue sky, white clouds, and black-tiled houses along the way made me feel bored until we drove into Yixian County and arrived at Hongcun. The mottled walls and distant mountains told me that we had arrived in Huizhou. Hongcun is bustling with tourists, students sketching, and busy shopkeepers. Hongcun is also quiet, with grandmothers washing clothes by the Moon Pond and making pancakes by Nanhu Lake, seemingly completing their daily routine for years. No tourists or urging could affect them. Hongcun's beauty lies in its different colors at different times of the day. In the morning, it is blue; at noon, it is green; in the evening, it turns orange. In the morning, the blue sky reflects in the water. The water is the same color as the sky. When I open the window, the quiet village seems never to have been lively. The staggered horsehead walls tell me they have been like this for many years. At noon, the hot sun shines through the trees onto the walls, and the water turns green. The flowing water tells us about its 800-year history. In the evening, the sunset turns Hongcun orange. I have never been so close to the sunset anywhere else, as if it wants to catch up with us and stop us.
