We booked a three-bedroom loft apartment, and it was exactly as shown in the pictures—everything was clean and tidy. From the bedroom windows, you can see mountains and lakes on three sides, and from the living room balcony, you can see the village of Hallstatt. The rooms are equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay and cooking. The owners provide essentials like tea, coffee, salt, sugar, and basic cooking oil. The apartment also has many games, puzzles, and books that my children loved. They also have a sun deck by the lake, which is a great spot for a quick picnic. The apartment is very close to all the places you want to visit in Hallstatt, yet it is very quiet and away from the tourist hustle and bustle. Hallstatt Lahn (bus/boat station) is a 4-minute walk from the apartment, and we had no trouble dragging our suitcases from there to the apartment. There is a children's park 50 meters from the apartment, which the kids loved. Supermarkets and restaurants are also nearby. The owners are very nice. They live on the first floor. They helped us move our luggage to the second floor (where we stayed) and let us use the washing machine (+ dryer) where we washed all our clothes. They even brought some bread so the kids could feed the swans on the sun deck. I will definitely stay here again the next time I visit Hallstatt.

The salt mines in Hallstatt have a very long history. They were originally on the seabed tens of thousands of years ago, but were uplifted into mountains by the compression of the plates, and these thousand-year-old crystallized salt mines are treasured in this mountain 511 meters above sea level. The tour experience here is held every half an hour. If you buy your ticket on the spot, you shouldn't have to wait too long. After the ticket is checked, you need to change into a miner's uniform and queue up with the staff to receive it, and then return it after the tour. There are two wooden slides in the salt mine. In the past, they were tools for miners to move to the lower level. Now they are the highlight of the tour that excites tourists. With a length of 64 meters, it is also the longest wooden slide in Europe. The tour guide will ask everyone to line up one by one. There is also a traffic light sign above, which is super cute. You can slide down alone or with two people. There is also a small screen above to help you take pictures. After that, we walked all the way in the underground salt mine. Salt crystals can be seen everywhere on the walls. There are also many installations in the tunnels, like a natural indoor museum, allowing tourists to learn about the stories of the past. There was also a wonderful light show that depicted the life of the prehistoric people of Hallstatt in the dim salt caves and salt lakes. I personally felt that it was very thoughtful. Came here for a night whilst solo backpacking. A day for me is enough to see the highlights of Vienna. Night life was okayish to be honest. But sightseeings are so pretty. The architectures are next level and would highly recommend everyone to visit the city!! I went solo and met amazing solo travelers there. I was never alone. One thing that we like the most when we go abroad is walking around convenience stores. We get to walk around and see food, local products, and get excited about things that are different from our home country. This is the charm of traveling abroad. Today, we will take you to Unimarkt. Everything here closes very early. From 6:30 to 7:00 p.m., they start to close. So we have to hurry. There are a lot of products here: vegetables, fruits, bakery goods, bread, condiments, drinking water, soft drinks, fresh food. Schönbrunn Palace (German: Schloss Schönbrunn [ʃøːnˈbʁʊn]; Central Bavarian: Schloss Scheenbrunn) was the main summer residence of the Habsburg rulers, located in Hietzing, Vienna. The name Schönbrunn (meaning “beautiful spring”) has its roots in an artesian well from which water was consumed by the court. In 1569, Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian II purchased a large floodplain of the Wien river beneath a hill, situated between Meidling and Hietzing. The former owner, in 1548, had erected a mansion called Katterburg. The emperor ordered the area to be fenced and put game there such as pheasants, ducks, deer and boar, in order for it to serve as the court's recreational hunting ground. We started the day early, walking through the pastel-hued streets of Salzburg’s Altstadt (Old Town) 🏰🎨. The air was cool and carried the scent of fresh pastries and stone warmed by the sun. We wandered into tiny courtyards, past wrought-iron signs and fountains, and couldn’t resist stopping at Café Tomaselli ☕🥐, said to be Mozart’s favorite spot. We sipped melange and shared a flaky topfenstrudel while people-watching from the balcony. Music from a nearby violinist filled the square, and we genuinely felt like we were inside a painting. 📍 Altstadt Salzburg: Kapitelplatz, 5020 Salzburg 📍 Café Tomaselli: Alter Markt 9, 5020 Salzburg 🏞️ Fortress Views & Garden Paths In the afternoon, we took the funicular up to Hohensalzburg Fortress 🏰🚡, which towers over the city. The views from up there? Unreal. Red rooftops, green domes, the Salzach River winding through it all. Inside, the state rooms and Gothic carvings felt untouched by time. Afterwards, we strolled through Mirabell Gardens 🌸🌿, where the geometric flower beds were bursting with summer color. We found the exact spot from The Sound of Music where they danced around the Pegasus fountain, and yes, we absolutely sang a few bars of “Do-Re-Mi” while skipping down the vine-covered tunnel. The actual view of the Alps unfolding before my eyes was beyond imagination, and the snow-covered scenery that seemed to touch the sky made me feel completely refreshed. In Innsbruck, you can take the Funicular (mountain railway) to ascend the Alps. The Funicular is free for one round trip with the Innsbruck Pass, but if you don't have the pass, you can purchase tickets at the ticket office opposite the boarding station for €47 per adult. The panoramic snowy landscape, dazzling white mountains stretching endlessly, and the feeling of being above the clouds—looking down felt like floating on a cloud. It's a perfect photo spot where every shot looks like a masterpiece! At that moment, all the fatigue from traveling seemed to vanish. The wind was chilly, but the air was so fresh and crisp that I spent a long time just gazing at the scenery in a daze. After descending one level by cable car, I found a ski resort! Although I didn't ski, I heard that sledding was free to use, so I decided to give it a try right away.
