en route to Philip island , my tour stopped at cowes which is a town close to Philip island to visit the cute little penguins. the town is very beautiful in fact and it’s filled with colorful shop houses that sell many variety of things such as food , restaurant bars and necessities as well as ice cream gelato. very interesting place to be at. and you can stop over here for a short break or meal such as dinner before going to visit the Philip island penguins. there is also a grocery stop so it’s very easy and convenient for the people here. the jetty is also very pretty but do note that it’s quite windy. so buckle up!

during my trip to Philip island to see the cute little penguins , my tour actually dropped by cowes for us to just chill awhile and explore this town.
cowes is actually the largest town in Philip island. there are quite a variety of stores available here for shopping and visiting and purchasing some essentials. there is also restaurants and ice cream which is perfect for the summer weather.
overall the town looks nice and peaceful. a great stop to refresh. there’s also a jetty nearby. you can also stop by here for dinner before heading to Philip island to see the penguins if you have some time to spare.

Chocolate Factory
Good place to visit for family and kids. The factory is small. Entry to the cafe is free and for the tour it's $18 per person. What you get is a token with a QR code (10 credit points) and a chocolate bar. You can use the token to play games that are towards the end of the tour and earn wooden balls.

🇳🇿✈️ The Nobbies" refers to a captivating natural area 🌊🐟
The Nobbies" refers to a captivating natural area located at the western tip of Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia. It's a significant ecotourism destination renowned for its stunning coastal scenery and abundant wildlife.
Here's what makes The Nobbies a must-visit:
Spectacular Coastal Views: A network of boardwalks allows visitors to stroll along the rugged coastline, offering panoramic views of the Bass Strait and the "Nobbies" themselves – distinctive dome-shaped rock formations.
Seal Rocks: Just a short distance offshore from The Nobbies is Seal Rocks, home to Australia's largest colony of Australian fur seals. You can observe these magnificent creatures lounging on the rocks, playing in the water, and going about their daily lives. Binoculars are recommended for a closer look.
The Blowhole: If the weather conditions are right, you might witness "The Blowhole" in action. This impressive sea cave creates a dramatic display as waves crash into it, forcing water and spray high into the air.
Wildlife Viewing: Beyond the fur seals, The Nobbies is a haven for seabirds, including Little Penguins (who often nest under the boardwalks) and various gulls. You can see them nesting, flying, and feeding. During certain seasons, you might even spot migrating whales.
The Nobbies Centre: This eco-tourism center provides educational displays about the local wildlife, ecosystem, and conservation efforts. It also features a cafe with stunning coastal views, a gift shop, and children's play areas.
Key things to know for your visit:
Location: The Nobbies is located at Point Grant, on the western tip of Phillip Island. It's about a 5-minute drive from the famous Penguin Parade.
Admission: Visiting The Nobbies boardwalks and area is free.
Opening Hours for The Nobbies Centre: Generally open daily from 10 AM to 5 PM, but closing hours can change seasonally. The outdoor area is closed one hour before sunset daily to protect native wildlife. It's always a good idea to check the latest opening hours on the official Phillip Island Nature Parks website before your visit.
Best Time to Visit: Daylight hours are best for viewing the coastline and wildlife. Spring (September to November) is particularly beautiful with the Sea Bird Gardens in bloom.
What to bring: Comfortable walking shoes, layers of clothing (it can be windy), and binoculars for wildlife spotting.
The Nobbies offers a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural beauty and unique wildlife of Phillip Island.

Puffing Billy train ride and Penguin Parade in Australia!
In April 2025, I embarked on an unforgettable one-day trip with Puffing Billy Train Ride and Penguin Parade in Phillip Island.
The journey began aboard the charming steam train, chugging through lush forests and scenic landscapes, evoking a sense of nostalgia. As we traversed the picturesque Dandenong Ranges, the fresh mountain air invigorated my spirit.
Later, we stopped for around 40 mins in Maru Koala and Animal Park. The park was a little but smaller than expected but we could still see many kangarooes and koala. We also bought some kangaroo feeds to feed them.
Later, we arrived at Phillip Island, where the excitement built for the evening's Penguin Parade. Watching the little penguins emerge from the sea and waddle across the sandy beach was a magical experience, creating memories that will last a lifetime.🐧😍

A Day of Adventure: Puffing Billy & Phillip Island
Spent an incredible day exploring Victoria’s gems!
Started with a nostalgic ride on the Puffing Billy Railway, chugging through the lush Dandenong Ranges with my legs hanging out—such a fun and unique experience. The views were stunning, and the crisp mountain air made it even better.
Then, off to Phillip Island, where I got up close with wildlife and took in breathtaking coastal scenery. The highlight? Watching the Penguin Parade at sunset—seeing the little penguins waddle back to their burrows was absolutely adorable!
A perfect mix of nature, history, and wildlife. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Melbourne!

Melbourne's The Nobbies and Churchill Island are must-sees
The Nobbies wooden boardwalk is very close to the rocks by the sea, and there are countless seagulls flying by, even very close. You can also go to the glass cafe to eat and check in while enjoying the sea view!

A lot of mind relaxing enjoy at Melbourne Philip island ❤️
#australiatravel
Just looking at the photos is very healing.
I live by recalling old photos every day.
It seems that only Ocean Road is comparable to this scene.
The computer wallpaper was also taken by me to catch the kangaroo in the last picture, which is so cute.

Phillip Island in Victoria, Australia, was an unforgettable escape filled with stunning coastal views, unique wildlife, and relaxing vibes. Located about 90 minutes from Melbourne, it’s a perfect day trip or weekend getaway. The entrance fee to the Penguin Parade was AUD $27, and it was worth every cent to watch these adorable little penguins waddle home at sunset! 🐧🌅
I started the day exploring the Nobbies Centre, where I enjoyed breathtaking ocean views and saw seals lounging on the rocks through the telescopes. 🦭 Then I headed to Churchill Island Heritage Farm, a charming spot showcasing Victoria’s farming history, complete with sheep-shearing and cow-milking demonstrations.
The beaches on the island are stunning too—Cape Woolamai is a must for its dramatic cliffs and golden sands, perfect for hiking or just soaking in the views. 🏖️ Phillip Island is also home to delicious local food; I highly recommend trying fresh seafood at San Remo.
If you love nature and wildlife, Phillip Island is a dream come true! Don’t forget your binoculars and camera. 📸

Penguin Parade is a great place to view the penguins backing their home. The guide there is nice but unfortunately no photograph is allowed.
