A highly recommended izakaya among locals [Kumejima]
#EnjoyJapan
At night in Kumejima, I had dinner at Minamito Shokurakuen, which a local told me was "definitely the best place!" 🍽️
I really wanted to try their specialty, kuruma shrimp, so I ordered the "deep-fried kuruma shrimp" which was delicious!
The crispy fried shrimp is perfect for a snack, as it can be eaten with the shell still on. The deliciousness of the shrimp spreads in your mouth, and it goes really well with beer 🍺
There's a wide selection of dishes that make use of local ingredients, and it seems like there are more locals than tourists.
Ending your night at a restaurant like this makes your trip that much more profound.

Local Favorite Alert! Dinner at Nanto Shokurakuen – Fried Baby Kuruma Shrimp Hit the Spot 🍤
Body:
Spent the evening at “Nanto Shokurakuen,” a local-favorite restaurant in Kumejima that came highly recommended by islanders.
Kumejima is famous for its kuruma shrimp, and I had the deep-fried baby version — Crispy, flavorful, and absolutely addictive. You can eat the whole thing, shell and all! Perfect with a cold drink.
The menu is packed with local flavors and fresh island ingredients. Honestly, it felt like more locals than tourists were there — and that’s always a good sign.
A delicious, down-to-earth way to end the day.
