This trip was sooo much fun! We were 4 friends spending our time on this beach and I will never forget it! The beach was really peacefull with almost no people in sight.

This is the first and probably the last time I’ll visit Wharariki Beach. It’s really far, and getting here requires quite a bit of effort, from driving along winding roads to walking a trail through farmland and sand dunes. But despite all of that, I have to say—it was absolutely worth it. The view was nothing short of spectacular, with dramatic rock formations rising from the ocean, endless stretches of golden sand, and powerful waves crashing against the shore. It felt like stepping into a different world, untouched and wild. I was incredibly lucky to visit on a perfect day, with clear skies and just the right amount of wind. The weather made the experience even more enjoyable, allowing me to fully appreciate the beauty of this remote paradise. The walk to the beach, though slightly challenging, only added to the sense of adventure. Along the way, I passed rolling green hills, curious sheep, and shifting dunes that made the journey feel magical. While I might not return due to the effort it takes to get here, Wharariki Beach is definitely one of the most breathtaking places I’ve ever seen. If you love nature, adventure, and raw, untouched landscapes, this place should be on your bucket list. #newzealandtrip A nice beach with a 20 minute walk from the car park through rolling green hills to the beach. We were there for sunset and it was beautiful with the rocks silhouetted by the setting sun. Good to go there when tide is lower so you can get into the cave from which the windows photo is taken. Also nice sand dunes and can spot some seals. Highly recommended😊

It is a one hours vehicle drive from Takaka, followed by a 30 minute farm walk. Or 2.5 hours from Nelson. Travelers tend to explore the family friendly beaches of nearby Abel Tasman National Park, whereas they miss the remote rugged windswept coastline of NZ.
