Balmes Hotel - Barcelona
Balmes hotel provided us a nice and pleasant experience. The hotel had a really good location, it was located in the heart of Barcelona. It was very close to the famous Passeig de Gracia and some iconic landmarks like Casa Batlló and Casa Milà.
Regarding the staff, they were very kind and friendly. The room was very comfortable and clean.
The hotel’s pool and gym were very small. Also, there were only a few sun lounger which all were occupied by other guests so we couldn’t enjoy the terrace at all. If you are a person who enjoys larger pool, it is a consideration to keep in mind. But overall, we have a great stay.

Barcelona City
Our visit to Barcelona was short lived. We spent around 7 hours here, and needed many more! With so many iconic and inspiring buildings, this place certainly has a lot of history.
Gaudis' work, alongside many others can be seen all around the city with some outstanding architecture.
The tourist tour on the bus was our choice for the day. This offers 2 routes, covering various areas and landmarks across the city, with a jump on and off feauture allowing people to hop off at areas they want to explore and visit and then simply hop back on to move onto the next landmark.
The city is very crowded, and there are a lot of pick pockets. So I advise to only take what is needed with you on your visit. Allow plenty of time and ensure you know where you need to return to, as there are many stations and entrances which can quickly become stressful.

Portaventura pleasure
PortAdventure Theme Park, Salou
Highlights - Shambhala
Rating 5/5
We spent the day at the theme park, a group of 5 adults and our baby. We over all had a good day, there was so much to do that we could not visit everything.
I would recommend coming here, though if possible I would say 2 or 3 days ia best to get the full experience. We missed out on all of the shows and most of the rides, purely because the park is so large you simply can not get around to everything in a day.
The rides we went on where good, the best being the Shambhala. As someone who has visited many theme parks and been on many rides, I can say with certainty that the Shambhala is one of the best rides I have been on to date.
Alongside the rides, there are many shops, shows and areas to relax, with picturesque waterfalls and features throughout. #portadventura #spaintravel #spain

Stunning Mosque Cathedral of Cordoba
This is a truly stunning building and to me, definitely worth a visit if you are in or near Cordoba. Known as the Mezquita-Catedral, this huge building is a grand structure and rich in history and complex, varied architecture styles, and one of the oldest structures still standing from the time Muslims ruled this region.
Feel small and a sense of wonder as you walk through the halls with many awe inspiring columns or through the large gothic style cathedral side of this place. It’s definitely unique, and also great for a picture or two (or more) as souvenirs of your trip. Note that flash and tripods are not allowed though (we just leaned my phone on a bench for this shot!).
I think entry cost us around 11 euros.

One of Spain’s most beautiful villages
After driving 🚗 along twisting road we arrive at one of the highlight little towns of the province of 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲, south of 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮 - 𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁 - considered one of 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻's most beautiful towns
Its narrow cobblestone-covered streets, whitewashed walls and the ubiquotous palmtrees leading the way towards a steep promontory with a castle guard tower certainly are proof of 𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁 beauty and the reason why this little town got such an accolade 🥇
As you get into the town, its streets are lined with cafes ☕️ restaurants 🍽 and souvenirs shops 🎁- you can even get swords ⚔️ and antique (decorative) guns in some of them -and as you walk towards the top the houses become intertwined in more difficult forms, defying gravity.
After walking through a tunnel, you will arrive at the entrance that leads to the top of the castle🏰 with its iconic guard tower at the pinnacle of it. However, if you prefer continuing your walk through the village, you should make it left and keep walking until you arrive to a big square at the top.
The views from this point are excellent, overlooking a water reservoir of turquoise blue color and with the mountain chains as a background of matchless beauty.
🌴𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁 is certainly a worthy recipient of its title as one of 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻's most beautiful villages and a trip here, although not an easy one, driving through the mountain roads, is one that you will not regret.
📍𝗚𝘂𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁, 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲 province, 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮, 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻🇪🇸
💰 Free to visit, if you want to reach the top of the castle you must enterthrough the 𝘔𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘶𝘮 𝘖𝘳𝘥𝘶ñ𝘢, ticketcosts 4€ and allows access to the museum, and the top of the castle
👉There are other museums, like the 𝘮𝘪𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘶𝘮, the 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘶𝘮 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘦𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘳 𝘱𝘰𝘵𝘴 or the 𝘮𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘶𝘮 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘢𝘭 𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴 that are also interesting and have various fees.

Artsy cats shelter in Valencia’s center

It is completely worth it, when in 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮, to wander around its narrow cobblestone-covered streets and discover the lovely vibes of the zone
Make sure, while strolling around, to not miss a very small and cute feature - 𝙇𝙖 𝘾𝙖𝙨𝙖 𝙙𝙚 𝙇𝙤𝙨 𝙂𝙖𝙩𝙤𝙨 - literally a hole on the wall that serves as a shelter for stray cats 🐈

A restaurant with a ball court in Valencia
For those of you always looking for a different foodie experience, you should not miss Pelayo Gastro Trinquet in Valencia.
The restaurant takes its name from the street where it is located “Pelayo Street” and the secret that it keeps inside - a court of “Trinquet”. Get those words together and add the gastro touch, there you have it: Pelayo Gastro Trinquet
The carefully decorated interior is cozy and yet sophisticated, making you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in.
The food also adds for a great experience with a menu offering a variety of Spanish tapas with a twist, highlighting local products of Valencia, and also a range of paellas and rice dishes to share. Highly recommended the Octopus 🐙 and as dessert the Horchata panacotta
Finally, the touch that will make the most curious happy, is the court of Trinquet all the way inside the restaurant.
What is Trinquet? it is a popular game in Valencia region, consisting of players in two teams hitting a small and hard ball with their bare hands trying to score a goal on the other team’s side.
Overall, a very different dining experience and one where history, food quality, interior design, service and the surprise element all play harmoniously to offer the guest a matchless experience.

From outside the pastel color walls are a neat background for the ceramic ornaments to shine! The scenes depicted here are a souvenir of Valencia’s archetypical elements: 🍊 orange trees with blossoming flowers and the shield of Valencia

A temple to Valencia’s culinary world
Markets are one of those places that collect the essence and the soul of a city. And the 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 in 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮 does exactly that.
Upon entering the space one can't stop contemplating its impressive oval ceiling, dating back to the beginning of the 20th century. The location of the market had served since long time ago, as an itinerant market where traders from all over 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻 🇪🇸 would sell their goods to the inhabitants of 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮 and it wasn't until 1928 when the market was officially inaugurated that it became permanent in this location.
Its style is reminiscent of 𝙈𝙤𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚, so popular in Spanish cities like 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗮, and precisely the architects who designed the first draft - 𝘈𝘭𝘦𝘫𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘳𝘰 𝘚𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘳 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩 and 𝘍𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘰 𝘎𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘥𝘪𝘢 𝘝𝘪𝘢𝘭 - were both educated in the 𝙎𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 𝙤𝙛 𝘼𝙧𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙚𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙖 and collaborated with renowned architect 𝘓𝘭𝘶𝘪𝘴 𝘋𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘩 𝘪 𝘔𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘳, one of the precurssors of Modernism.
Nowadays the 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 is visited by tourists and locals alike, the first ones to enjoy its architecture and rejoice the local gastronomy in the stalls: 𝙟𝙖𝙢𝙤𝙣, 𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙚𝙨𝙚, 𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙟𝙪𝙞𝙘𝙚, 𝙛𝙧𝙪𝙞𝙩𝙨, 𝙥𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨, 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨 and more, the latter ones to get their groceries and go along with their daily life.
Definitely a beautiful place to visit and even take home some of the local products that make Valencian cuisine a highlight among 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻'𝘀 culinary 👩🍳 universe.

Valencia’s timeless horchata
𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮'𝘀 gastronomy is one of Spain's 🇪🇸 finest, we all know about their worldwide famous 𝙋𝙖𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙖 𝙑𝙖𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙣𝙖 🥘 , all over 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗻 everyone praises oranges 🍊 from 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮 as well, and one of the summer favorite midday refreshments, 𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗮!
𝗛𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗮 is a milky type of drink made of "𝘤𝘩𝘶𝘧𝘢𝘴" - 𝙩𝙞𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙣𝙪𝙩𝙨 - its natural flavor is quite nutty and in 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮 they add a good amount of sugar to sweeten it up. It is usally served cold and often ordered with 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗼𝗻𝘀, a sugary pastry to dip into the 𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗮.
One of the places that has been doing this combination of 𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗮 and 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗼𝗻𝘀 for over two centuries in 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮 is 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗮, right in the city center, next to the impressive tower of the Santa Catalina's church, whose name it takes.
They have a range of drinks to order from 𝘤𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘦 1'50€ 𝘤𝘩𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘰𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 2'50€ 𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘫𝘶𝘪𝘤𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 3€ or the highlight 𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘁𝗮 (3,30€) and 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗼𝗻𝘀 (1€ / unit)
The venue is quite beautiful per se, with ceramic tiles and drawings depicting typical scenes of life in 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮 hundreds of years ago. Walk up to the second floor for a view of the church tower from a new perspective.
A good place for a break when visiting 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮 and picture yourself back in the 1900s enjoying a refreshment with Valencian people at the time.

The gates to Valencia’s old city
Torres de Serrano are living history of Valencia! These impressive towers were the access gates to the old city of Valencia since ancient times and nowadays they offer a wonderful panoramic view of 360 degrees for those, brave enough, who dare to climb up the hundreds of steps.
Along the climb you will have the chance to discover beautiful corners where to take pictures, overlooking the busy cobblestone covered streets of Casco Viejo, and as you continue the ascend you get to gaze towards towards the other side, where hundreds of years ago the river Turia, now turned into an urban park, would allow access to these towers.
You can also witness the shield of Valencia, crowned by a bat, the symbol of the city. And as you reach the top the view is breathtaking, having all the city at your feet is certainly quite a sight to behold.
