Baru Caves during Thaipusam festival
A must join event in a life time Thaipusam festival, a traditional Tamil Hindu festival celebrated on the first full moon day of Tamil month of Thai coinciding with Pusan star. The festival is celebrated to commemorate the victory of Hindu god Murugan over the demon Surapadman using a vel, a divine spear granted by his mother, Parvati.
Featuring the astonishing scenes at Batu Caves, Kuala Lumpur. This is a public holiday in Malaysia, and if you are here at that time, you should not miss this magnificent event.
Batu Caves is a mogote that has a series of caves and cave temples in Gombak, Selangor, Malaysia. It takes its name from the Malay word batu, meaning 'rock'. The cave complex is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India, and is dedicated to Murugan.

Crocodile Adventureland Langkawi
Located at Teluk Datai Bay, 10 minutes away from Langkawi Cable Car, the Crocodile Adventureland has an area of 10 acres. According to the Malaysia book of records, the place showcases the biggest crocodile in captive, aside from being the largest crocodile park.
There were 2 options of tickets to select from, namely the “Croc Encounter Combo” (RM 90 / adult) and the “Snack Bites Combo” (RM73 / adult). In any case, the only difference would be the voucher for photo pass or meal to dine at the restaurant.
Crocodile Adventureland in Langkawi offers various activities that cater to all ages. Here are some things you can do there:
1. Juvenile Crocodile Feeding/Fishing
Firstly, a small bag of crocodile pellets and a rod with meat attached was distributed to each of us at the entrance. We watched the crocodiles feed on the pellets as we toss them into selected enclosures. Crocodile fishing means feeding them by lowering the meat using the provided rod, was a unique opportunity for most of us. Hence, if you would like to feed them more, you can purchase crocodile pellets at RM5 per pack or RM15 per session for crocodile fishing.
2. Crocodile Shows
Next, enjoy live shows featuring trained handlers demonstrating daring stunts and feeding the crocodiles. Fortunately, there will be an announcement via the loudhailer every time a show was about to begin. Undeniably, the feeding session was exciting as we watched the trainer tossed whole chickens (not live ones) to the crocodiles. Feeding time slots are at 1.15pm and 4.30pm.
3. Crocodile Photo Sessions and Photo Spots
Basically, you can get up close and personal with a baby crocodile for a unique photo opportunity. Meanwhile, explore around Crocodile Adventureland as there are few spots where you could take OOTDs. These spots include a heart shaped background, a swing and a mini suspension bridge.
4. Crocodile Education
As I have noted throughout the park, there were many educational boards showcasing facts about crocodile. Do you know that the temperature of a crocodile egg can determine its gender? Anyway, check out the crocodile anatomy as well as preserved crocodile organs sealed in jars too.
5. “Bujang Basar”
Another main highlights would probably be “Bujang Basar”, the largest living crocodile ever caught in Malaysia. Evidently, there was a certificate which certify that “Bujang Basar” was listed in the Malaysia book of records too.
Lastly, visit the souvenir shop where you could shop for crocodile-themed memorabilia, gifts, and items made from crocodile leather.

Cameron Highlands Flora Park is a captivating tourist attraction offering a variety of activities, from a sheep-petting farm to the renowned BOH tea plantation. With options suitable for all ages, it's a destination worth exploring.

For those looking to enjoy a romantic date, the park offers cafes and Picnic options for two (RM$288), although we were content from a hearty breakfast earlier.

5 Michelin Guide Food You Must Try in Penang
#penangtrip Penang, known as the food capital of Malaysia, boasts a culinary scene that tantalizes taste buds with its diverse flavors and vibrant dishes. Here are five must-try Michelin Guide-recommended foods in Penang:
1. **Assam Laksa**: This tangy and flavorful noodle soup is a Penang specialty. Made with fish-based broth infused with tamarind (assam), it's served with thick rice noodles, shredded mackerel, cucumber, pineapple, onions, and mint leaves. The perfect balance of sour, savory, and spicy flavors makes it a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
2. **Char Kway Teow**: A beloved Malaysian street food, char kway teow is a stir-fried noodle dish that's bursting with smoky flavors. Made with flat rice noodles, prawns, cockles, Chinese lap cheong (sausage), bean sprouts, and eggs, it's cooked in a hot wok with soy sauce, chili paste, and sometimes belacan (shrimp paste) for an extra kick.
3. **Hokkien Mee**: Originating from the Fujian province of China, Hokkien mee is a flavorful noodle soup that's a staple in Penang's culinary scene. The dish features thick yellow noodles cooked in a rich, savory broth made from prawn and pork bones, along with prawns, slices of pork, hard-boiled eggs, and bean sprouts. It's often garnished with fried shallots and served with a side of sambal chili paste for added heat.
4. **Nasi Kandar**: A popular Malay dish, nasi kandar is a hearty meal consisting of steamed rice served with a variety of curries and side dishes. Originating from Penang's Indian Muslim community, this flavorful dish offers a wide range of choices, including chicken, beef, fish, and vegetable curries, as well as fried chicken, fried fish, and boiled eggs. Diners typically select their desired dishes, which are then poured over the rice and enjoyed with a side of pickled vegetables and papadum.
5. **Cendol**: A refreshing Malaysian dessert, cendol is a sweet treat perfect for cooling off on a hot day. It consists of shaved ice topped with green rice flour jelly noodles (cendol), coconut milk, palm sugar syrup (gula Melaka), and sometimes red beans or sweet corn. The combination of creamy coconut milk, fragrant palm sugar, and chewy cendol noodles makes for a delightful and satisfying dessert.
These five Michelin Guide-recommended foods offer just a glimpse of the culinary delights awaiting you in Penang. From street food stalls to upscale restaurants, the food scene in Penang is as diverse as it is delicious, ensuring that every meal is a memorable experience.

Oriental Village Langkawi
Oriental Village Langkawi is one of the top destinations to visit in Langkawi.
Located around the highlands of the Machinchang Cambrian Geoforest Park, Oriental Village Langkawi is a place to spend a day or just half a day.
We arrived via grab at the modern village where restaurants and shops lined the complex. Firstly, we headed directly to the ticketing counter to purchase the SKYCAB admission ticket at RM43 per adults. Hence, we are entitled to access to all the following activities mentioned below:
1. 3D Art Museum
2. Langkawi Cable Car Ride (SKYCAB)
3. SKYREX
4. SKYDOME
5. SKYBRIDGE (Add-On)
6. Machinchang Petland
In conclusion, visiting Oriental Village Langkawi is definitely something different aside from the countless beach visits in Langkawi. We left with a positive impression due to its combination of entertainment, cultural experiences, and stunning natural beauty. However, some may find the village slightly touristy, while others enjoy the lively atmosphere and the chance to experience Malaysian culture in a condensed setting.

Dream Forest Langkawi
Dream Forest Langkawi is Malaysia’s Newest and First Immersive Night Attraction
The attraction opened its door to visitors from 1 May 2023 and its opening hours are from 19.00 to 24.00. After dinner, we took a grab to the outer edge of Gunung Raya, where the attraction was located. The sight of the entrance arch with the illuminated lettering ‘Dream Forest’ thrilled me.
The entrance fee for the public (adults) is RM68, and RM38 for Langkawi residents.
The magical journey begins with Zone 1 – ‘Portal of Dreams’. We watched a wayang kulit demonstration projected onto a large screen before walking through a book portal.
With the use of multisensory technologies in various zones, I felt like I was walking through a forest similar to the one in the movie ‘Avatar’. The swaying Lalang, which changes color from time to time, gives the magical forest a special charm. At one point during the journey, we shouted through horns for the lights to glow. We continued our journey from zone to zone, fascinated by the folklore and stories of Tasik Dayang Bunting, Merong Mahawangsa and the giants of Langkawi.
Right in the midst of the storytelling, we were led to the tree village where we could have a short break. For those who would like to experience a picnic in the forest could purchase refreshments from the kiosk. Families with kids would love to barbeque some marshmallows over the bonfire available on site.
Lastly, by the end of the immersive journey, you might want to grab some souvenirs from the shop. There are tote bags, book containers, caps and many other merchandises on sale.

Langkawi Mangrove Tour
Langkawi Mangrove Tour is one of the highlights when visiting Langkawi.
A mangrove tour in Langkawi offers an incredible opportunity to explore the unique ecosystem and witness fascinating wildlife of Malaysia. There are 2 main jetties located on Langkawi that offer the tour. They are the ‘Langkawi Mangrove Tour’ and ‘Tanjung Rhu Mangrove Jetty’. The one we took our tour was the former.
Basically, there are also 2 options on how you would like to go for the tour. We decided to go with the private speedboat so that we do not need to wait for others. The package rate were as follow:
1 hour – 250RM per boat
2 hours – 350RM per boat (Recommended)
3 hours – 450RM per boat
4 hours – 500 RM per boat
The recommended time would be 2 hours since beyond that only includes optional activities such as visiting beaches and fish feeding. However, despite picking the 2 hours package, we were returned to shore after 1.5 hours. We felt a little short-changed though.
Here are some top things to do during a Langkawi Mangrove Tour:
1. Bat Cave
2. Fish Farm
3. Crocodile Cave
4. Eagle Watching
5. Andaman Sea & Shoes Island
6. Beaches & Fish Feeding (Optional)
For those who opt for the 3-hours, or 4-hours mangrove tour packages could alight on a private beach with beautiful shores. Enjoy the fish feeding session as you spot some of the marine life living around the shores. In conclusion, there are plenty of photography opportunities while on the mangrove tour. Besides the natural beauty of the mangroves and the wildlife, capture the stunning landscapes and unique flora and fauna too.
