Searching for an Emerald Lake ⛵️
#hiddengems
There are 42 islands in Thailand's Ang Thong Marine National Park. Ko Mae Ko, or Mae Ko Island, is one of the best for kayaking as the waters surrounding it are calmer due to its shape. It's also on this island where you can find the Emerald Lake - a super hidden lagoon accessible only by a hike up (~20 minutes) to the viewpoint, and THEN a steep and slippery trek downwards. The lake, known as Talay Nai, is a beautiful turquoise and even glimmering sapphire under the sun, and at different angles. It was quite emotional, even, to enjoy such a view and feel so small in a vast and extensive planet.
The hike up was very manageable. Paths and steps were clear; plenty of railings and durable ropes to guide you. Proper shoes recommended for comfort.
Getting here is easy - many tour companies organize day trips to Ko Mae Ko from Koh Samui, and they're relatively affordable.
At Mae Ko, must-do is definitely kayaking. You can circle around small islets and get back to shore in less than 20 minutes. The sun might be glaring, but the calming waters and stunning limestone cliffs and rock formations will make the effort worth it.
If you're hungry, there's a bar/restaurant/souvenir shop (combined into 1) on the shore.
Overall, the Emerald Lake (or Blue Lagoon) is an exciting hidden gem located less than an hour's speedboat ride from Koh Samui. One can easily spend a day here, so come with plenty of thirst for adventure! Unforgettable experience ✨

Phuket's Most Charming Beach
#hiddengems
I'm a firm believer in going off the beaten path. Sure, check out the tourist hotspots. But the best finds tend to be the least well known or crowded!
Yanui Beach is situated in the south of Phuket, sandwiched between the popular Nai Harn Beach and Promthep Cape, connected all by 1 single-lane, winding road that's often unused by tourist minibuses.
What Yanui Beach lacks in size, it makes up for with charm and beauty. It's really small, but easily the most beautiful in Phuket. Expect very little crowds: about 20-30 others came/gone during my 3 hour visit. Yanui is "split" into 2 by an easily climbable rock formation, dividing the sea into 1 area for snorkeling and the other for swimming.
Snorkeling and kayaking - MUST try here. Either can be done for 100THB if you need equipment. When the waves are calm, kayaking here was amazing. The adventurous can circle a smaller island in the sea - it'll take about 30-45 minutes. The marine line was also quite impressive, I spotted many kinds of fish and coral. The water was room temperature, and the sand sparkling and pristine.
If you're hungry, go for a meal at this lovely restaurant just by the beach, off the road (it's also where the only toilet is).
Overall, a STUNNING hidden gem in Phuket many don't know of. Do not give this a miss as you'll miss out on a spectacular day with excellent photo opportunities! No admission fee.

Traveling to Thailand? Why not visit the Amphawa Floating Market in Bangkok - December is the perfect time to go!
One of the highlights of visiting the market in December is the pleasant weather. As you cruise along the river, you'll feel a cool breeze and be surrounded by the mesmerizing sight of floating lanterns illuminating the market.
Additionally, December offers a variety of seasonal products. You'll find a delightful selection of fruits and vegetables characteristic of Thailand's winter, as well as international treats like gingerbread biscuits and candy canes.
The best part? You don't need to purchase a ticket to enjoy the market!

Phuket's Majestic Temple Complex
#weekendgetaways
Think of Thailand, think of ornate historical temples, decorated in yellow and gold, immaculately maintained architecture and features.
In Phuket, one must see the Wat Chalong (known locally as Wat Chaithararam) complex - a vast area of temples, holy sites, galleries, and an operational monastery!
The original temple, Wat Chaithararam, is believed to have been built in 1837, with the other buildings in the complex built much later. Apart from its majestic look, this complex features many relics and pilmigrage sites. The tallest building, with a 60m tall stupa (spire), features a bone relic of Lord Buddha on its top floor. From there, the view is spectacular - you can see extensive parts of Phuket on a clear day.
There is also a shrine dedicated to famous and venerable monks for people to make offerings. Likewise, an air conditioned museum replicates the original home in which 3 revered monks used to live in.
From time to time, you'll hear firecrackers go off - if someone's wishes made at this complex came true, they'll come back to set firecrackers off as a tribute!
One can easily spend hours here, so I recommend coming early. The complex is huge with many places of interest and historical significance. Bear in mind this isn't the beach, so dress modestly (cover your knees and shoulders) and remove hats when entering sheltered places.
Entry is free but do feel free to make donations!

Bucket List: Elephant Sanctuary in Krabi
One of the highlights of our trip in Krabi was visiting the Elephant Sanctuary. We decided to visit Ao Nang Elephant Sanctuary, and we had an incredible experience there. From the moment we arrived, the staff warmly welcomed us and provided informative insights into their elephant conservation efforts. We felt a genuine sense of care and dedication towards the elephants, witnessing their well-being as the top priority.
The activity started with feeding them their favourite foods, such as bananas and sugar cane. We learned to make a healthy food supplement and then gave them a refreshing mud bath in the river. It was absolutely the best experience to be able to interact and get close to the elephants. We enjoyed playing with those beautiful creatures; they were super gentle and even let us touch and hug them.
It was undoubtedly an unforgettable memory that was worth every penny. Whether on a solo trip, a romantic getaway, or a family trip, I highly recommend this activity to anyone travelling to Krabi. #elephantsanctuary #krabiadventures #animallover #krabi #Thailand

Sleeping among the clouds in Bangkok! ☁️
I must say, The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon was absolutely my best stay in Bangkok so far! From the check-in to the breakfast, the service was impeccable. The artfully-designed room was incredibly spacious and well-appointed, and the view was nothing short of spectacular! Being on the 18th floor made it felt like I was sleeping amidst the skyscrapers and floating in mid-air! One highlight was the complimentary pass to Sky Beach, the rooftop bar located on the 78th floor. It was truly mesmerizing to spot all the malls and temples I had visited during daytime from this height. The 360 view was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that should not be missed! #freehotelstay #bangkok #thailand
