An Aquarium of Art
#timetotravel
I have never visited a museum quite like the Art Aquarium Museum in Tokyo’s Ginza district. It is a living museum where thousands of common and rare goldfish are displayed in aquarium tanks of different sizes and shapes and colors. It is a calming experience walking through the museum and listening to soft music and flowing water, seeing the colors change and the goldfish swim around.

Tallest Structure in Japan
#timetotravel
The Tokyo Skytree, which was completed in 2012, is a television and radio broadcast tower and currently the tallest structure in Japan. We had tickets to go up around sunset time, but there was not much of a sunset due to rain. The nighttime views are still great, but it was pretty crowded, including at the glass floor where you can view down. A few cafes and a restaurant are also available with nice views.

Muji Ginza Flagship Store
#timetotravel
The Muji flagship store in Tokyo’s Ginza district has six floors and some unique features, including a cafe and bakery on the first floor and even a hotel and restaurant up above! Unfortunately, when we visited, several floors were unavailable due to renovations, so we didn’t get to browse apparel, but we did look through the household items and purchased some bedsheets and pillowcases (tax-free for foreigners).

Immersing Oneself into Art
#timetotravel
TeamLab Planets Tokyo is an amazing experience to have an immersive art experience. There are spaces where you walk through water and interact with light displays, where you feel like you are floating with flowers while smelling floral bouquets, and see amazing mirrored reflections. Tickets here sell out quickly, so it is best to book your visit ahead of time. Women should also avoid wearing short skirts because of all the mirrored floors, but they do have rental shorts available.

Fantastic location in Shinjuku
This hotel is located in a fantastic location within walking distance to Shinjuku Station. There is a lift next to the hotel, making travel with luggage super easy.
The hotel is also an airport shuttle stop, should you prefer Limousine bus for direct trip to Haneda Airport.
Room is on a small size and a bit outdated. However, given its location and the right price, I will return to this hotel for my future stay in Tokyo.

Japan’s Eiffel Tower
Tokyo Tower is the second tallest structure in Japan and built in 1958. It looks like a red and white Eiffel Tower. We visited around sunset and caught some nice views of the city. There is also a glass floor that you can walk on and look down (not recommended for those scared of heights). You can purchase separate tickets to go up to the top floor. We grabbed dinner at the food court downstairs afterwards, which was convenient, and there were many souvenir shops too.

Kimono Day at Asakusa Sensoji Temple Tokyo
Let me share with you my favourite day in Japan is when I wore a Traditional Kimono for the first time! The photos may not all be perfect; some might even be hilariously awkward. However, each one holds significant sentimental value for me.
It was a full day of walking around in our kimonos. We started at the Kimono Rental place call 着物レンタル 蓮-REN in the morning for the fitting. Our package includes hairstyling and a full day rental kimono set (up till evening), which cost us around 6000 yen which is a pretty reasonable price, I must say. We didn't want to let our lovely hairstyles go to waste. If it weren't for the encouragement of my travel-mate, I probably wouldn't have ventured out on trains and explored different places in my kimono, struggling with those traditional Japanese slippers but it was definitely worthwhile. Haha!
If you like exploring beautiful places for insta-worthy shot, go to this stretch of road near Zojoji Temple, where we took photos with Tokyo Tower in the background. If you're interested, feel free to look it up on Google maps.
P.S. Be ready to be a Kimono mascot when you’re there, took so many pictures with random tourist requesting us to be in their photos.

An incredible day at Tokyo DisneySea 🏰🎢
If you’re a fan of Disney or theme parks then a day at Tokyo DisneySea is essential if you’re in the city. It’s made up of lots of themed worlds centred around a huge man made lake. Each area has different rides, food and experiences to match the theme.
Entry is around $60 and it opens at 9am, it can get very busy very fast so it’s best to get in the lines before it opens. Head for the biggest ride as soon as it’s
open to beat the queues, even by 10am the big rides all had a minimum queue of an hour!
However If you plan in advance you can manage to do everything in one day, download the app ahead of time too. On the app you can buy fast pass tickets for around $5-10 per person per ride. You can book one ride per hour so if you strategise it well you can do all the big rides for around $40 each which is worth it to avoid the queues
Also one or two of the rides to single rider options, so I’d you just want to try the rides and you’re not too worried about riding with friends this will save you a lot of time!
Overall the park is stunning and visually one of the more polished Disney parks, the worlds are so immersive and detailed you get the true escapism you want.
However if you’re travelling with small children who want to see the characters this isn’t the park for you, it’s best to do the other Tokyo Disney. Character interactions here are minimal and VERY busy.

KAWAGOE - The Little Edo near Tokyo
Kawagoe, often referred to as "Little Edo", is located in Saitama Prefecture, Japan, just a short distance from Tokyo. Stepping into Kawagoe feels like taking a journey back in time to the Edo period, with its well-preserved historical buildings and charming streets.
One of the city's main attractions is its iconic Kurazukuri (clay-walled warehouse) Zone. This area showcases traditional Japanese architecture with dark, wooden structures and clay walls. The warehouse buildings, some dating back to the 18th century, now house quaint shops, cafes, and museums, offering visitors a glimpse into the city's mercantile past.
The symbol of Kawagoe is the Toki no Kane, or the Time Bell Tower. This three-story bell tower, built in 1639, chimes four times a day and has become a beloved symbol of the city. The surrounding area is bustling with shops selling traditional sweets, crafts, and souvenirs, making it an ideal spot for leisurely shopping and exploration.
Kawagoe's local cuisine is also a treat for food lovers. Don't miss trying the city's specialty sweet potato dishes, such as sweet potato fries and sweet potato ice cream, which are sure to delight your taste buds.
Kawagoe's charm lies in its ability to preserve its historical legacy while embracing modernity. Its well-preserved architecture, lively festivals, cultural attractions, and delicious cuisine make it a perfect destination for travelers seeking a taste of traditional Japan within easy reach of Tokyo.

Tokyo’s treasure trove, the national museum
Without a doubt this is an essential stop on any trip to Tokyo, it’s a beautifully created museum in stunning grounds.
Nestled in Ueno park there are plenty of other cultural sights around, but if you’re limited on time this is the one to do.
Set across multiple buildings the artefacts are grouped by region and time period. I spent a lot of time in the Asian halls and the Japanese history halls, I went at opening time and the museum was nice and quiet. As I left around midday it was starting to get very busy so the morning is definitely the best time to go.
Entrance is around $5 and there is good free wifi throughout the exhibits.
There are special exhibitions that cost extra and rotate seasonally, it’s worth checking in advance what it is and booking a place.

All aboard to the Tokyo Metro Museum 🚂 🚊
If you’re interested in Japans amazing metro infrastructure this is a must visit for you, or if you’re travelling to Tokyo with kids they will love it.
it’s very cheap to get in around $2 but it’s a great way to spend a few hours, the museum is small and very dated but still crammed full of information.
It gives you a brief overview of the origins of underground metros then goes on to focus on the growth of Tokyo & Japan’s infamous metro networks.
They have two vintage carriage to see how the trains have evolved over time and lots of fascinating photos of metro networks through the decades.
Easily accessible as its right underneath Kasai metro station, only drawback is quite a lot of things are not translated into English or any other second language after Japanese.

Late-Night Delights in Asakusa
It was quite late when we arrived in Tokyo from Osaka; thus, when we went to the neighboring Asakusa, the stalls along Nakamise-dori were mostly closed. Nevertheless, the vibe surrounding Senso-ji was really charming, and there were so many food options nearby. Some of them were among the best in town; we had the best affordable charcoal grilled unagi at Unatoto and ramen at the famous Ichiran. We'll surely go there earlier when we visit Japan next year to explore more.

A peaceful pitstop near Harajuku
Togo-Jinja Shrine
This Shinto shrine is a perfect escape form the hustle and bustle of the surrounding streets, directly opposite Takeshita - Dori street.
The shrine is set in a small park area with a huge pond full of koi fish, there are wooden walkways over the water to take in the surroundings.
At the end of the walkways is the shrine, in a pebbled courtyard with trees and statues. The Shrine is a tribute to Marshal Admiral Togo of the Japanese navy and there are references to his success all around. There is a small museum and bookshop dedicated to his life and you’re able to donate a small tribute to leave a message on a wooden plaque.
The shrine is accessible from Harajuku station and is relatively quiet throughout the day, a great stop to pause and plan your next stops.

Beautiful shrine in bustling Tokyo
The Meiji Shrine is a beautiful and peaceful oasis in the middle of bustling Tokyo. You can enter from the rear of Harajuku station and it’s the perfect place to escape the crowds of downtown Tokyo.
The park itself is over 170 acres and it’s full of lush greenery, you can explore the winding paths or follow the main route to the shrine.
The shrine is a tribute to Emperor Meiji, originally built over 100 years ago and reconstructed after it was destroyed in WW2. The shrine itself is set inside a huge courtyard with imposing trees, for a small donation you can write a message on a wooden plaque and place it near the trees.
The best time is the morning to avoid the crowds, we started at the bottom from Harajuku station and then worked our way up through the park. Heading out the top of the park for food around Yoyogi station.

Artistic world of wonder in a bustling city
I’d you’re heading to Tokyo then a trip to team lab planets is essential! head to Shin Toyosu station and it’s right at the bottom of the stairs so it’s easy to get to.
But it’s very popular so book a ticket ahead for your designated time slot. We arrived on time for our slot but the queue was still pretty big, so arrive early if you can!
The exhibitions are split into two sections, water and garden. You have to go barefoot for the duration but there are lockers for your shoes and slippers
for the outdoor parts.
The whole experience is incredible and I’d really recommend it but there are a few tips.
> Get ready to go straight in, go to the toilet before
you arrive and get your shoes into the first locker and head to the entrance. This gives you a head start against the crowds so you can have time alone in the exhibitions for photos
> The passageways to get from each room are very narrow and dark so it’s not for anyone who is claustrophobic.
> There are also some steep climbs and knee deep water in dark rooms so not for those easily scared!
But other than that a really exciting exhibition for all the family

Bento Lunch in Ueno Park
Are you planning to go to Japan? Maybe you won't miss this place, especially if you wanted to visit Tokyo. Ueno Park is located in Taito-ku district, Tokyo, so close to Ueno Station. It's started open to public in 1876. This park is difinitely has a long history to tell for young generation. It's a 530,000 m2 and there are about 8,800 trees. Ueno Park opens everyday from 5 a.m to 11 p.m and free of entrance fee, unless you wanted to visit Ueno Zoo or National Museum of Western Art that also located in Ueno Park area. Don't be surprise if you see a lot of people coming here everyday and will be more crowded on weekend. The scenery here is always beautiful in every season.
