For a spontaneous three-day mini holiday, I chose Yunfu Chanquan Resort Hotel, just two and a half hours by car from Shenzhen. Initially, I didn't have high expectations for a hotel that's been open for ten years, but I was pleasantly surprised and could tell the hotel has been carefully maintained. The hotel's hot spring area features a jungle landscape with many individual pools offering different therapeutic effects. Since early April is the off-season for hot springs, it wasn't crowded at all—definitely not packed like sardines—and the whole area was clean and tidy, which is a huge plus for those with mild cleanliness preferences! The overall style is an elegant new Chinese design. You need to book in advance to get a lake view room; although I didn't get one, the room I was assigned still had a great view, full of greenery with a touch of Japanese ambiance. The hotel offers so many activities that we only experienced about one-fifth of them. The main theme is Zen meditation, including scripture copying, Zen sitting, Zen music and color emptiness, Zen chess, and Zen yoga. There are also a cinema, tennis courts, indoor swimming pool, gym, table tennis, billiards, and many other options. The breakfast was especially impressive, ranking among the best in Guangdong hotels at the same price range, with a wide variety including freshly made Cantonese dishes like congee and rice rolls. The Chinese restaurant's offerings were equally excellent. When work gets tiring, it's time to steal some energy from nature. Chanquan is perfect for relaxing your body and mind, breathing fresh air. Prices on regular days are more affordable than on holidays, offering great value. I'm already planning a second visit!
