In the city, there is a mulberry tree with withered branches and a gnarled trunk, which is about 1,800 years old. It is said that it was planted by Guan Yu during the Three Kingdoms period. The trunk of the mulberry tree is almost withered, but new mulberry trees have grown from the roots, and they are still thriving after several generations. In the Ming Dynasty, the local government built a brick wall around the tree. The city wall is 11 meters long, 2.7 meters high, 3.5 meters in diameter, and covers an area of more than 10 square meters. It is made of blue bricks and has battlements on top, resembling a city wall, hence the name Hansang City. It is said that after Liu Bei, Guan Yu, and Zhang Fei swore an oath of brotherhood in the Peach Garden, they stationed their troops in Xinye and invited Zhuge Liang to be their military advisor. Zhuge Liang was kind and loved the people, and he was strict with military discipline, so he was deeply supported by the people. One day, Guan Yu was so focused on reading military books that he neglected the horse tied under the mulberry tree in front of the door. This horse was also very famous, as it was the legendary Red Hare. The Red Hare gnawed on the landlord's mulberry tree.
