Trip.com, the global travel service provider, now offer Klarna’s flexible range of payment options to UK travellers. Trip.com’s customers now benefit from Klarna’s famously smooth payments experience, whether they choose to pay now or pay later, and can keep track of their spending in the Klarna app.

From the 7th November, Trip.com’s UK customers will see Klarna as an additional payment option when they arrive at check-out, where they’ll be able to choose one of three payment options:

● Pay Now, to pay the full amount immediately;
● Pay in 30, to pay the full amount within 30 days; and
● Pay in 3, to pay in three equal installments, spread over 60 days.

To mark the launch of Klarna payment options on Trip.com, from 7th to 18th November UK travellers who use Klarna to pay for flights on Trip.com will enjoy savings on their bookings.

The offering comes in response to rising demand for flights on Trip.com. As of 8 August, daily flight orders on our UK site increased by an average of 2400% compared to the same period in 2021. Flight searches from the UK to the US jumped by 678% in the first half of 2022 compared with the same period in 2021.

Klarna’s short-term, interest and fee and fee free credit products deliver positive outcomes for consumers with extremely low default rates, well below 1%. Klarna assesses a consumer’s ability to repay on each purchase, taking a real time view of someone’s financial circumstances which means using Klarna is never guaranteed. The company restricts the use of its services if consumers miss a payment to prevent debt building up. Because Klarna charges no interest and no fees to consumers, its business model is driven by only extending credit to those who can afford to repay and consumers making responsible financial decisions, unlike traditional forms of credit which profit from late payments.

Alex Naughton, Head of UK, Ireland and Netherlands, Klarna, said: “This agreement combines Trip.com’s world-leading flight search technology with Klarna’s smooth, flexible and responsible payment methods, helping UK travellers save time and money as they find and pay for the trip of their dreams.”

Jonathan Cooper, Country Director UK, Trip.com, said: “We are excited to partner with Klarna to offer Trip.com’s UK users with savings and convenient payment choices. Through this campaign, we are not only providing savings but also a contribution to the environment through our tree planting scheme with CHOOOSE – a cause we know travellers care increasingly more about.

For every booking made during this November campaign, a complimentary donation to tree planting projects will be made through Trip.com’s partner CHOOOSE. The CHOOOSE platform provides tools for integrating climate action into the customer experience, and is Trip.com’s partner offering travellers the option to offset their flights. Trip.com Group’s inaugural Sustainable Travel Consumer Report 2022, showed that sustainable travel has moved to the forefront of travellers' minds, with close to eight in 10 travellers (78.7%) now acknowledging its importance.
