On arrival, a restaurant in a bland hotel on a roundabout under construction: not immediately promising. The amuse bouche soon laid any fears to rest, though: an excellent meal then followed. There is a chef in this kitchen with a real genius for textures and taste combinations. It matches or exceeds Michelin starred food I have eaten. Everything was delicious, and a few (the tonka bean dessert and the polenta cake with the guinea fowl) were stand-outs. Service was attentive. We had a wonderful lunch.

This was a wonderful discovery - delicious and sophisticated, locally produced food, served in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. And with an extremely reasonable bill at the end. What's not to like!

If I could predict my "last supper" it would be at Le Castelet. The food is amazingly good and the owners make you feel so welcome but not intrusive. They deserve all the positive feedback they receive. If you are ever in Blois make sure you book Le Castelet. You will not be disappointed.

We loved everything about this place! The service was top-notch: attentive, warm and friendly. The food was amazing!! We opted to order a la carte instead of the fixed menu. We ordered the starter of langoustines with asparagus and I’ve never had shrimp cooked so perfectly. For our main dishes we had monkfish with a delicious vierge sauce (olive oil, basil, garlic, etc) and then a sea bass with a delightful curry sauce that was so subtle and worked great with the perfectly cooked fish. It was amazing!! On the side they brought us a vegetable medley of cabbage, artichoke, zucchini and pepper (even though it was a side, this was one of our favorite dishes!)After dinner we had a cheese course with so many delicious cheeses. For dessert: a chocolate molten cake with raspberry sorbet and the most incredible soufflé I have ever had in my life (by far)!! For wines they had a list that was literally a book and they were able to recommend fabulous wines with our meal. We highly recommend!!

Another sunny + showery day (I've gotten used to it every day this week) Driving 400 kilometers from Bordeaux Pauillac to the Loire Valley Loire is most famous for its castles, Chambord, Chenonceau, and other large and small ones... When I lived and worked in Paris before, I had visited all the major castles here. This time, I mainly wanted to stay for one night on the way back to Paris Airport. I chose Les Hautes de Loire (meaning the Loire Highlands) of Relais & Chateaux. The hotel is in a forest. I almost couldn't find the gate. It's too low-key. It feels very secluded all the way in. I was instantly in awe. There were not many guests today (but I still met an American group). The hotel upgraded the room to a higher level. It was very large and the view was very comfortable. The hotel's own Mi2 was fully booked (all blame the Americans...) So the hotel made a reservation for us at another restaurant 10 kilometers away. It was very delicious and cheap. 29 euros for two courses, 8-9 euros per glass of wine. The bill for two people was 80 euros. The cheapest meal of this trip [Grin][Grin] The oysters for the appetizer 🦪 are from Normandy and fresh~~ Okay, I'm going home tomorrow. I'll drive directly to the airport to return the car in the afternoon. This trip ended successfully. 4 Relais & Chateaux + 1 SLH, Relais & Chateaux is clearly the winner. It is indeed different in the French base.

A bit out of the way if you’re staying in Amboise but worth the 5 minute drive from city center. Our waiter was extremely friendly and the food was excellent. It was a very hot day so we started with a very cold beer that hit the spot perfectly.

A magnificent setting, efficient but humorous service, tasty and generous dishes make this a place where you would like to take a room to extend your stay.

Nice restaurant with a very nice view on Chambord castle (luckily we were able to eat outside); due to a misunderstanding our main course arrived late, but with a view on Chambord castle we could not complain; very nice dessert, and nice French cooking with a modern twist
