TheForkUserOur waiter was brilliant so charming and very helpful with the menu!!! Even though the restaurant was super quiet but it is out of season our waiter and the rest of the staff didn’t make us feel rushed at all…great steak!!
TheForkUserEverything about it was memorable I started with a L'Americano aperitif. Had the bone marrow with lentil salad and pike dumpling with mixed vegetables. The bone marrow was very sweet, tender and delicious, far different from what we have access to in the US. Lentil salad is something I've come to appreciate on this visit to France. The sauce with the pike dumpling was very savory. I used bits of bread to soak it up and ate them with a fork. A glass of house white wine that came with a very generous pour. Then came the Baba Rhum with a side of whipped cream and thin-sliced toasted almonds. I was even brought a massive decanter of house spiced rum in case I wanted to add more to the dessert. Classic and classy. This is a very good, exceptional restaurant that lives up to its high rating on a service like Google Maps (how I discovered it).
TheForkUserThis was one of the finest meals I had during my week in Avignon. More casual and relaxed than the other top two places. Great for families, inexpensive and servings to satisfy the biggest eaters. The owner actively involved with every guest party. A French proprietor fascinated by Italian cuisine. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough.
TheForkUserWe took the 4 course Menu Ispiration meal with the chefs suggestion. All the portions were excellent, and the Pinot Noire wine was superb.
TheForkUserThe three course menu was well executed, from the seared prawns, the chicken and the dessert bread. Paired well with a white wine from Vacqueras. Kudos to the restaurant and chef.
TheForkUserFood was excellent. Appreciated a different menu than most other restaurants in town. The lamb shank option was excellent
TheForkUserTo watch the chefs plate the food is like watching artists at work. Plus such an imaginative menu! Never miss a chance to dine here when in Avignon.
TheForkUserWe really appreciated the creativity and willingness to adapt the evening's menu to my wife's food restrictions. The staff were tremendous and willing to engage in a bit of light-hearted banter during the evening. Altogether, a tremendously enjoyable experience.
TheForkUserL’Auberge de Cassagne has been a great discovery. The cuisine was excellent, elegant and elaborated. The ambience on the terrace was very pleasant with a remarkable service and kind personnel. Thank you for the lovely time!
TheForkUserThe food was amazing! The service was excellent as well. It was our 2nd time dining there and ir did not disappoint either time..
TheForkUserWe adored the gorgeous terrace and charming ambiance of this local favorite restaurant. Our waiter was so perfect, with attention to detail and his elegant service. The food is excellent. We can highly recommend this one. We were a group of 8, and we sat at a hand crafted artisan mosaic table with comfortable seats.
TheForkUserLovely setting in a beautiful garden. The food was very good, and the waiters were super friendly. I enjoyed my evening very much.
TheForkUserThe food was not only delicious but beautifully presented. Sit outside if you can. We had a view of the Pope's Palace. We were a party of 8 and everyone loved their meal!
TheForkUserGreat little place which we look forward to come back again when the outside terrace is open. The chef is clearly passionate about his trade! And lovely service too.
TheForkUserExcellent service. Did not feel rushed. Lovely wine selection. The food was prepared with devotion, and a master of the culinary craft. I am celiaque, and the staff was knowledgeable and accommodated via modification where needed. The complexity and creativity in our meals was very appreciated. Merci!
TheForkUser2nd time back to this restaurant while we were in Avignon. Another very good experience. Quality food, good presentation, attentive service and a pleasant atmosphere. And at reasonable prices. A real value restaurant.

TheForkUserLovely setting and friendly staff. I asked for my beef to be well done but unfortunately it was very rare. I appreciate that this is more usual for French taste. My partner and I therefore swopped meals and his pork loin was cooked perfectly.
TheForkUserInventive menu with some seasonal options. Very good food. Reasonably priced, Nice wine, but no cocktails. Will definitely go back ! Highly recommend
TheForkUserVery fine restaurant. Great setting, lovely view, tasteful modern interior. Ask for window seat if possible. Food was delicious. Well constructed courses, intentional flavours, clear devotion to representing seasonal and regional ingredients. Flow of dishes was seamless without losing the uniqueness of each one. Service was outstanding. The waitstaff is easily at 2 star level, and paid attention to details which usually only exist at the 3 star level. Overall, this restaurant is well deserving of its recent accolades, and is outperforming at the current price point. Do not hesitate to book if possible.
TheForkUserOur hostess was so friendly and personable but more importantly, the food was delicious. The menu is limited but for our dinner, everything we had was enjoyable and very reasonably priced. Merci “Mamie” for a lovely evening in Avignon. We loved the “Grandmother Skis” which is effectively a charcuterie with melted cheese (perfect for the moment). We recommend it.
TheForkUserGreat service and location, friendly staff. The food has a very good presentation, a real effort is made. when it comes to the taste, it is good, but lacks a bit to be waouw. overall I would say you get great value for your money and will eat very well for a brasserie.
TheForkUserSimple, but tasteful, little restaurant, very quiet as it was Sunday night. My wife is from California so misses good Japanese food. She was really delighted with everything and her entire meal with two glasses of wine cost the same as just the wine in LA. Absolutely charming people. Loved it.
TheForkUserLovely setting outside in the shadow of a big tree. Excellent reception and service. And the food was what you expect from a Michelin star chef. My compliments!
_TI***l2Le Moutardier du Pape is a must-visit for anyone in Avignon, not only for its excellent food but also for the warm and welcoming atmosphere.
TheForkUserDinner was exquisite. The gorgeous view, the restaurant’s ambiance, and the extremely thoughtful (and highly professional) service was outshone only by the superb meal and wines. We appreciated the delicious amuse-bouche, which more than hinted at the skillfully prepared entrees to come. This is a spectacular restaurant.
TheForkUserLovely respite from long drive thanks to the welcoming staff and delicious food. We will be back!
