驴香阁(阳光北大街店)

This shop is quite friendly to local residents and tourists during breakfast hours. I checked, and it's not crowded from 7 am to 9 am, so there's no need to queue. I recommend trying their tofu pudding; they give you plenty of gravy, and remember to add some chili oil for extra flavor. The fried dough sticks are freshly fried, and they're especially crispy if you catch the first batch.

The owner is really strict about the quality of the baked flatbreads; if he sees any that aren't baked well enough, he simply removes them. This meticulousness is very reassuring, making you feel that the food is being treated with care.

The crispy crust of the pork intestine bun crumbles when you bite into it, while the donkey meat stew is soft and chewy, perfectly complemented by a bowl of hot soup. Sitting at the small wooden table by the window, watching the evening light slowly dim, is very comforting.
