This roast duck restaurant is really good. The small ones are only 38 yuan, which is just right for our family of three, and we even had some leftovers to take home. If you don't have a large family, ordering the small ones is enough; don't order the large ones and waste money. By the way, it's best to call ahead and ask before you go, as it can get crowded during peak hours and you might have to wait. Going early will save you from waiting too long.
I took my family there once before and ordered the roast duck. It was indeed freshly roasted, though we waited a while for it to arrive. The skin was incredibly crispy, absolutely delicious with white sugar, and the meat wasn't dry at all. The duck carcass was fried by the restaurant and sprinkled with salt and pepper; the aroma was irresistible when it was served, perfect with drinks. The small pancakes were warm and soft, and rolling them up with duck meat and scallions was very satisfying. The only downside is that there can be a queue when it gets crowded, so I suggest going outside of peak hours.
This roast duck is smoked in a hanging oven with fruitwood, and the skin is indeed roasted until it's translucent. Biting into it produces a satisfying crunch, releasing a burst of rich, oily flavor. The duck meat has no gamey taste, is tender and juicy, and isn't greasy even when eaten plain. I usually dip roast duck in white sugar to cut through the richness, but this time I didn't even touch the sugar dish. I recommend wrapping it in a pancake while it's hot; the pancake will collapse when it cools down, significantly affecting the texture.
