The area around Wuwei Lane in Shanggu Daguan was packed with people during the Spring Festival, but when I found this restaurant, it suddenly became quiet. I ordered a few dishes; the taste wasn't amazing, but it had that comforting, homey feel. Sitting by the window, watching people come and go outside, I suddenly felt time slow down. The lighting inside was warm, and I didn't want to leave.
This is our go-to fried food spot around here; I can't remember how many years it's been open, but I've been eating there since I was a kid. The fried chicken wings and fried squid tentacles are must-orders. The batter is thin, making a satisfying crunch when you bite into it, and the meat inside is juicy. Unlike other places that have a thick layer of flour that gets greasy after a couple of bites. Even after 9 pm, there's still a queue, but the turnover is fast, so you only have to wait about ten minutes for a table. The owner has a bit of a temper, so don't hesitate when ordering; just tell him what you want.
This restaurant isn't big, but the food comes out incredibly fast. I grabbed a quick lunch there and didn't have to wait long. Hygiene was impeccable; the tables were spotless, and the tableware looked reassuring. The owner was efficient and attentive, even reminding me that I could choose the spiciness level when I ordered.
