The first time I walked through that corridor draped with red ribbons, I was genuinely taken aback when I looked up and saw the blue-and-gold lettering of "Baoding Grand Stage." I've been to many places before, but restaurants converted from old-style opera houses like this are rare these days. That day, I took a friend there and ordered donkey meat sandwiches and stewed flatbread. The sandwiches had a crispy crust, and the meat was plentiful. The only downside is that the location is a bit confusing; even if you're on a GPS, you'll have to find it yourself. I suggest you avoid peak meal times if it's your first time there, otherwise, finding a parking spot can take forever.
I brought my child here for breakfast, and this place is a real gem I recently discovered. Before, when I took my child to other places, we waited for half an hour just to get a table, and my child was fussy and hungry. This place, however, didn't require a wait; we could sit down as soon as we walked in, which is so important for parents like me with young children. We ordered fried dough sticks and soy milk. The fried dough sticks were quite crispy, and the soy milk was freshly ground; my child drank two bowls. The price was also very reasonable; the meal for the three of us cost less than fifty yuan, and it's even easier than making it at home. I recommend going before nine in the morning; it's less crowded then, and the experience will be much better.
When I opened the room door, the Republic-era style table lamp was on, casting a warm glow on the old elm wood tabletop, making the grain of the wood clearly visible. For a moment, I truly felt transported back to a bygone era. But lying on the bed was a delightful surprise; the mattress was just the right firmness, and I didn't want to move once I sank into it. The smart toilet in the bathroom also surprised me; I hadn't expected such modern convenience to be hidden in an old house. I'm actually quite picky about accommodations, but this guesthouse struck a perfect balance between retro style and comfort, making for a very relaxing stay, and I slept exceptionally well that night.
