燕南(北大冉店)

This old shop has been open for decades; everyone in Qingyuan knows it. Their Sichuan peppercorn oil cold noodles come with soup, unlike anywhere else. Their pancake rolls with fried meat slices are also made in the traditional Baoding style. If you go, go early, as it gets very crowded during mealtimes.

The chive boxes are huge, almost as big as steamed buns. Be careful when ordering main dishes; one is enough for two people.

The garlic sea bass was alright. The beef skin stew was quite tender, but the flavor was a bit strong; it depends on personal preference.
