But the alleys of Gaozhuang offer you "authentic Dai cuisine + hidden gems," less crowded and quieter, and most importantly, the snacks are cheap and authentic. You can even bargain for photos without queuing! ✨ The best part is the alley next to the Golden Pagoda at dusk. The sunset casts its glow on the pagoda, and the Dai costume ladies walking by create an incredibly atmospheric scene. Two of us ordered 6 dishes, and every single one was great. The service was also excellent! The driver recommended Lao Botao Dai-flavored BBQ in Gaozhuang, Banna. As expected, there were a lot of people. As expected, the best thing was the big piece of pork belly, which was roasted crispy on the outside and relatively dry and fragrant. It was served with spicy bread in the lettuce. It was very good. The other barbecue dishes were very average, and the Lao beer was OK. A large string of vegetables and pork belly is very popular here, and the other small strings are quite normal.
