| Wandering the City of Crackers & Exploring Restaurants in Yanzhou ||| Photos 2-13: Yanzhou District, Jining City Photos 14-15: Rencheng District, Jining City 1️⃣ Weishanhu Yutun (Yanzhou Shaoling Park East Gate Branch) The Chicken Instant Noodles are a must-order! A Jining specialty, the chewy noodles are mixed with the stir-fried chicken broth for a savory and fragrant flavor. The portions are quite generous, and I also ordered a seafood dumpling soup, which was a generous bowl for just over a dozen yuan. 2️⃣ Cracker King (Yanzhou Fortune Plaza Branch) Delicious, the buns are quite large, and you can choose between salty, sweet, or neutral sauces. Their fish and meat fillets are slightly meatier, so the prices are a bit higher. 3️⃣ Laopailou Rice Noodles (Yanzhou Fortune Plaza Branch) I went there with my mai mai, but suddenly the mai mai didn't smell so good anymore. The rice noodles were delicious! The broth wasn't your typical instant noodle soup; it was just the right amount of salty. The rice noodles were thin, soft, and very flavorful. 4️⃣1989 Western Restaurant (opposite the south gate of Yanzhou No. 1 Middle School) This is my second group order of this set menu. The dining environment is great! Every dish is excellent! Highly recommended. 5️⃣Xu Shengji Unmodified Hot Pot (Yanzhou Branch) On the street north of RT-Mart, I ordered the Chongqing-style spicy hot pot. The ingredients felt more Shandong than Chongqing, and it was quite fragrant. The meat was flavorful and simmered well. 6️⃣Yuanwei Crackers (Feilong Street Branch) Very affordable, and the sauce they use hasn't been modified (I mean, for example, there's a Jinxiu Crackers near Chundu Huafu that doesn't use the sauce, but instead stir-fries shredded potatoes). I love the fish fillets, which are generously coated with starch and fried to a crisp. 7️⃣ Lihua Dry Rice Pot (near the east gate of Jiuzhou Fangyuan, Yanzhou) As a native Yanzhou native, I consider dry rice pot a must-try in Yanzhou, and it's distinct from the jarred meat dry rice in Jining. This dry rice pot isn't the kind of place I ate at as a child; it's cleaner, hahaha. The stir-fried dishes aren't particularly wok-flavored, but I love it. In short, when I go to dry rice pot, I always order fried rolls, tofu, pork belly, stir-fried pork belly, tiger skin chili peppers, and more. Paired with rice in sauce is amazing. 8️⃣ Wuhan Stinky Dry Pork (Yanzhou Huangchengyuan Old Store, listed as Xingcheng County Old Store on the map) I've been eating here since elementary school. Later, we moved from a roadside stall. The location has changed, but the taste hasn't! The fried tofu isn't smelly at all, and the sauce is incredibly rich. You'll love it after one bite. 9️⃣ Xitang Flower Season Wufu Dumplings (Yanzhou Ginza) I've been eating there since high school. The dumplings look really appetizing, with options like tomato, Spanish mackerel, pork, and mushroom filling. I recommend eating in; they're better than takeout. 1️⃣0️⃣ Luzhu Huoshao (Yanzhou Duanxinli) Having tried authentic Beijing Luzhu and Baodu (stir-fried tripe), I found them average. I wouldn't call them authentic, but they're not bad. 1️⃣2️⃣ No. 7 Backyard Roasted Lamb Leg (Rencheng District, Jining) Recommended!! The leg is huge, and the filling is incredible! The meat is lean, so you can cut it into pieces and heat it on the stove. Pair it with cucumber dipping sauce and a large draft beer to help with the greasiness. It's a truly blissful experience. 1️⃣3️⃣ Jiabing King (a small shop near Taibai Tower in Rencheng District, Jining) For Jiabing, you have to go to Jining. Unlike the standard Yanzhou Jiabing, it comes with fried potato chips and deep-fried ham, which is very fragrant.
