We went to Fuzhou for a few days this summer vacation. The most impressive thing was the food in Fuzhou. In the last two days, we left Fuzhou city and went to Pingtan Island for a tour. The taste is relatively tough, but it may be a bit difficult for the elderly to chew. Pingtan's weather can be unpredictable in mid-September. It might be windy in the morning, but it'll clear up in the afternoon, and the sea will return to its blue color. I've packed a beautiful windproof jacket and skirt, and my photo shoot is 100% guaranteed. However, there are a few things to keep in mind when visiting Pingtan. ⚠ Note: Pingtan doesn't have a metro system, so I recommend taking a taxi directly to your hotel. After getting off the train, look for ride-hailing services online; avoid illegal taxis! This will save you a lot of trouble. Note: For budget-friendly accommodations, stay in the county seat; the scenery and food are equally worth it! For ocean-view rooms, stay in B&Bs in Tannan Bay and Beigang Village. If you have more budget, choose a star-rated hotel with better and more up-to-date facilities. Note: Regarding Pingtan's three magical islands: Tannan Bay, Changjiang'ao, and Houyan Island, the weather is crucial. Although Houyan Island is far away, it's not far away. If you're looking for the sea, choose Tannan Bay (the beach is the finest). If you want to save money, go to Changjiang'ao (the budget-friendly option). If you're traveling with children, I recommend Longwangtou (the facilities are complete). They all offer unique beauty, so if you have time, try them all. Note: Pingtan has many night markets, and they all sell similar items! They offer everything from four-fruit soup to oyster pancakes to grilled squid, as well as island-style dresses from the scenic area. Don't buy expensive, low-quality ones! Note 5: When renting an electric scooter, always look for a legitimate operator! Don't trust street touts! The bikes might be in poor condition, and they'll try to squeeze you in more money. You might end up spending hundreds of dollars on a crappy bike. Note 6: The sunsets at Changjiang'ao are stunning, but they're incredibly crowded! I recommend two less-visited spots: the Northern Ecological Corridor and Heping Village. They're less crowded, beautiful, and perfect for photo ops. Remember to wear windproof clothing! Note 7: Besides Changjiang'ao, the sunsets at the Northern Ecological Corridor, Tannan Bay, and Houyan Island are also stunning. Wouldn't it be nice to switch gears and enjoy the sunset? Note 8: Water quality at several beaches: Tannan Bay > Changjiang'ao > Longwangtou. The only downside to Tannan Bay is the crowds and the powdery sand. Note 9: We recommend going to the county town seafood market for seafood, as it's cheaper than in the scenic area. Remember to ask for the price per unit (but shipping is expensive, so it's best to eat there). Note 10: When visiting tourist attractions, don't be fooled by outsiders into buying cultural and creative items! They're almost always a scam! You can visit the Weifushe Art Store in the county town. It's a large space with DIY products, Polaroid cameras, and many other Pingtan cultural and creative products. You won't regret it! ✅ Food recommendations: These tried-and-true restaurants: For dinner in Pingtan, we tried Wenhai Seafood Cuisine on the north line, a nostalgic Fujian folk cuisine in the county town. For seafood, we checked out "Today's Off Work" and Yucuo Seafood Stalls, which serve freshly caught seafood. For late-night snacks in Pingtan, we tried Lao Ma Zha Market Hot Pot and Wu Mei Mao Roast Duck, both of which we loved. You can enjoy Pingtan's "Shi Lai Yun Zhuan" (good luck with luck), fish ball soup, oyster pancakes, and four-fruit soup with your eyes closed!
