The best food during this trip to Qingdao was the stir-fried cabbage with prawns and the iron plate egg tofu at Huachun Restaurant. The dishes were large and delicious. I wanted to visit this so-called most beautiful university in China, so I could only walk around for half an hour at night. When I went out, I found out online that there was a must-eat restaurant in Qingdao in 2019, "Huachun Restaurant", so I rushed there excitedly. I was a little surprised when I arrived at the door of Huachun Restaurant, because the storefront of this must-eat restaurant was pitifully small. The street-facing room was only a dozen square meters in size. There were three small tables for four people and a large table that could seat eight or nine people. It was full. It seemed to be the kind of delicious and inexpensive folk food. It was opened by the wall of the university. It was the kind of "fly restaurant" commonly known by Chengdu people. The proprietress was very honest and told us that there were no seats. If we shared a table, we would have to wait for more than 50 minutes before the food was served. We were tired from walking, so we said we were willing to wait, and then we were led to a small room of seven or eight square meters in the back. There was a rectangular table inside, and four people were already sharing the table. We were the third group to share the table. The first to arrive told us that it is normal to share tables here, and everyone is used to it. First, according to the ranking of recommended dishes, we ordered the top three: iron plate egg tofu, peanut paste, and sweet and sour pork tenderloin. According to our own preferences, we ordered eggplant with clam meat, baked sweet potato with egg yolk, and a bottle of Tsingtao beer. The dishes were served very slowly, but it was worth the wait. 1. The first to come up was the peanut paste, which ranked second in the recommended dishes. Peanuts and fried wheat flour were made into a paste dessert, which was fragrant and sweet, just right to comfort the hungry stomach. 2. Sweet and sour pork tenderloin, the sweet and sour taste was moderate, the color and taste were OK, the shortcoming was that the batter wrapped around the shredded meat was a little thick, it felt not crispy enough, and a little sticky. 3. Iron plate egg tofu, the egg was made into tofu and cut into long strips together with shrimp, squid, luncheon meat cubes, and green vegetables to make the first recommended dish of Huachun Restaurant. It felt like a creative dish in a university cafeteria. The color and taste were not very eye-catching, but college students obviously liked it very much. 4. The best dish is eggplant with clam meat. The eggplant is cut into two-inch long strips, fried in a large oil pan until crispy, and coated with light icing. The clam meat is fried with green onion, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, and vinegar and cooled. Then the cold clam meat and the green onion, ginger, garlic sauce are poured on the freshly fried eggplant strips. When it was served, I was almost full, but the taste of this dish opened my appetite. I have to say that it is a Shandong dish with attractive quality. 5. Baked sweet potato with egg yolk. The egg yolk is not salted egg yolk, but ordinary fresh egg yolk, and it is made into a sweet dish. Maybe this is an authentic Shandong dish, but I can't accept sweet egg yolk... Huachun Restaurant can be listed as a must-eat restaurant in Qingdao because of its strength, the reputation of old diners, and its outstanding cost performance. The above four dishes and a bottle of Tsingtao beer cost a total of 145 yuan. The amount of food is sufficient, and two people can be very full with three dishes. The overall feeling is good.
