蔗糖66Xianhelou is a time-honored restaurant in Yinchuan, near the South Gate Square. The storefront sign is quite impressive and the environment is relatively clean. I ordered a sweet and sour Yellow River carp, which was fried crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The sweet and sour taste was good, and their homemade yogurt was also quite refreshing.

A very popular restaurant near the hotel We went in at around 8pm and it was still very busy. The two of us sat at a round table. Seeing that many people were eating together at other tables, we didn't dare to order too much. The hand-pulled lamb should be delicious, but I don't like it. I must order the eight-treasure tea. I fell in love with this bowl of tea in Yinchuan. The yogurt in this restaurant is also very delicious. As for the dishes, I don't think there is anything special except the large quantity. The door is used as a weighing scale, which is very funny.
It's not far from Gulou. I came here after reading the reviews. The dumplings are really good. The thickness and taste of the dumpling skin are just right. There is a shrimp in each shrimp dumpling, which is fresh and chewy, fresh but not fishy. The vegetarian three fresh is also worth trying.
I highly recommend Xianhelou. In a nutshell, if you can only choose one restaurant in Yinchuan, then choose this one. Although I have eaten a lot of roasted lamb, hand-pulled lamb, and fried lamb during the days I came to Yinchuan, the roasted lamb chops here are still amazing. They are completely different from the barbecue in Sichuan. There are very few seasonings, no peppers, onions, garlic, etc., and all the effort is spent on the quality and heat of the ingredients themselves. The result is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, full of the charcoal aroma of the barbecue itself. Even I, who don’t like lamb, eat a lot. The portion is very large, and two people can’t finish it and can only pack it up. The signature lamb dumplings, someone said it was the best dumplings he had ever eaten in his life, and he ate half a catty by himself! Half a catty! Half a catty! Lamb and pasta were originally my least favorite foods, but I feel good these days. Once again confirmed my point of view that there is no bad food in the world, only bad chefs.
The beef dumplings were very fragrant and delicious, but the dumpling skin was not cooked in places... The service was not good either. The waiter was nowhere to be found, so we had to do it ourselves. Even when ordering, a bunch of people gathered at the front desk to scramble to order. After finally ordering, we waited for a long time before the food was served. There were also people who lost their orders because they paid first and then the food was served, so they collected the money but did not serve the food. People waited for an hour and asked several times, but finally found out that they had not placed the order... It was a mess anyway.
This time when I came to Yinchuan, Xinhua Hotel was bought through a group purchase, but I couldn't book it online. Fortunately, there were still rooms available when I arrived. The lady at the front desk booked a king-size room for my wife at a discounted price. Then we went straight to Xianhelou for dinner. We ordered shrimp balls, which were very large. My wife and mother-in-law didn't finish the whole dish. It tasted very good, the service quality was good, and the environment was elegant!!!
Xianhelou is located on Xinhua Road in Yinchuan, a prime spot in the city's bustling district. It's a long-established establishment with a strong reputation and is a must-try in Yinchuan. The roasted lamb back and sesame-flavored pulled noodles are highly recommended. Yinchuan lamb is exceptional; you can tell it's authentic the moment you taste it. The roast duck is also excellent; while not as good as Beijing's, it's still worth a try. Private rooms are available for larger groups, and there's singing and dancing, though the quality is average.
