Stopped in for a quick bite and a drink. The amaretto sour by the fire hit the spot after a long day. Bartender was on it, kept the drinks coming without hovering. Place was a bit quiet for my taste, but that worked fine for a relaxed sit-down. Solid spot if you want a proper cocktail without the fuss.

Came for the dinner, live music was decent craic. Lamb shank fell off the bone, prawns were fresh enough. Place had a good buzz to it. Bit loud if you&#39;re after a quiet chat, but sure that&#39;s part of it. Solid feed overall.

The live music really made the place&mdash;two lads got everyone going. Guinness was spot on too. Could&#39;ve done with a bit more space at the bar, but sure look, it added to the craic.

The whiskey tasting here was genuinely interesting &mdash; proper history behind it, not just a quick pour. Food menu&#39;s small but done well. Service was friendly, though we did wait a bit between courses.

The seafood chowder was proper&mdash;thick, creamy, loads of fresh fish in it. Had a pint outside looking over Ventry Bay. That&rsquo;s the whole reason to stop here.

The upstairs room for our hen do was lovely, really nicely done out. John the barman was so patient with us all. Cocktail class was good craic too.
