The staff were really friendly and chatty. One waiter told us a few fascinating stories about the castle's history over a glass of wine. It was a nice touch that made the evening feel a bit more personal.

Service was quick and friendly, even on a busy night. Staff knew the menu well.

The salt and pepper fries were the star for me. Perfectly crisp, not greasy, and that seasoning was spot-on. Lewis and Mhairi were lovely, really attentive without being overbearing. Made for a nice, relaxed dinner.

No. 11 of Bars in Edinburgh

Portions are generous, flavours spot on. The flat iron steak was cooked just right, and the haggis bon bons were a treat. They have a decent wine list too - found a nice Malbec that paired beautifully with the steak. Solid spot.

The tasting menu was the highlight. The scallop course had a perfect sear, and the wine pairing brought out its sweetness. The venison was rich, but the portion felt a bit small.

The salmon in the poke bowl was super fresh. A server told me the owner's brother runs a fish market nearby, so that makes sense.

The fish and chips were lovely. The batter was light and crispy, and the smoked haddock was very fresh. My only small note is that the booth seating felt a bit cramped for a longer meal.

Breakfast menu is a highlight. Went for the eggs royale and my partner had the shakshuka. Both were solid, but the portions felt a bit on the smaller side for the price. Still, a decent spot for something different.

Lovely spot to unwind with a chai. The staff are genuinely warm, which makes a difference. Little drawings on the latte foam are a sweet touch, my heart was a bit lopsided but it made me smile. 😊

The vegan goulash with potato pancakes was really good, rich and hearty. You could tell the ingredients were fresh. The affogato was spot on too. Portions are decent for the price. A solid choice for Czech food done plant-based.

The staff were so kind. I asked if they could make a hot toddy, and they whipped one up for me even though it wasn't listed. Used simple syrup instead of honey, but it was really nice. Just a very comfortable spot to unwind.

Staff were really friendly, made me feel welcome straight away. Atmosphere is relaxed but still feels a bit fancy, good for when you want something a bit special. Nice place.

Decent value, but the wasabi was a bit weak. The fried noodles portion was huge compared to everything else, felt a bit random.

The deluxe porridge was the highlight. Creamy oats with a generous mix of nuts and seeds, plus a side of honey. The avocado toast on sourdough was fine, but the porridge is the one to get.

Came here with a few friends. It's got that classic, no-fuss vibe and loads of tables, so we could all spread out. Really clean and comfy, perfect for a group catch-up.

Popped in for a quick pint and some loaded fries. The portion of fries was huge, honestly could have shared it with a friend. Good for the price.

The outdoor terrace overlooking St. Andrew's Square is a lovely spot. Spent a sunny afternoon there just watching the world go by. Only thing was a bit of cigarette smoke drifted over a couple of times, but the view made up for it.

The spicy chicken burger was so flavourful, and the chicken was a proper generous piece. The fries were light and crispy, which was a nice touch. Service was considerate, too.

The restaurant offers a fantastic view of the Forth Bridge, making it a lovely spot for a meal, even if the food quality varies.

The lunch menu is decent value. Portions are generous, though the food is just fine for the price.
