An absolutely perfect meal in a beautiful setting. This restaurant is in a quiet area of ​​Gion and can be easily missed as it has a quirky and unassuming entrance. We had a private room but you can also sit at the counter where you can watch the chefs at work. Every dish was beautifully presented and incredible.

After spending time around the Bamboo Forest area, we continued our Kyoto journey by bus. 🚌 Traveling by bus in Kyoto is actually very convenient, and it allowed us to slowly enjoy the city views along the way. Everything felt calm and relaxed—very Kyoto vibes. 🌸

One of our stops was to buy Uji matcha, which Kyoto is very famous for. 🍵 The matcha here is rich, fragrant, and so smooth. Whether it’s matcha powder, snacks, or desserts, everything tasted premium. Definitely a must-buy souvenir when you’re in Kyoto!

Next, we walked around Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka (Suzannzaka vibes 😆), one of the most beautiful traditional streets in Kyoto. 🏮 The sloping streets were lined with wooden houses, souvenir shops, and small cafés. Every corner felt so aesthetic—it honestly felt like stepping back in time. 📸✨

At the end of the walk, we visited a beautiful temple, Kiyomizu-dera. ⛩️ The temple was absolutely stunning, standing tall with a breathtaking view of Kyoto. The architecture, the surrounding nature, and the peaceful atmosphere made it one of my favorite spots in Kyoto.

Walking, bussing, and exploring Kyoto this way made the day feel slow and meaningful. 💛 Kyoto has a special charm—you don’t rush here, you just enjoy every step.

Day 6 – Part 3: Exploring Kyoto by Bus 🍵🚌

清水寺に行きました。トリップドットコムで予約したホテルが綺麗でした。部屋も綺麗に清掃されていて、不快な点がありませんでした。ビュッフェ形式の朝食も、安くて美味しかったです。ですが、京都駅からホテルまでが少し遠く、夏だったこともあり、汗だくになってしまいました。初めて京都に来ましたが、バスが安く、沢山通っていて、すごく便利でした。高速バスで行きましたが、途中で無くし物をしてしまいました。

Spent the last three days in Kyoto and had a great time. Checked into our hotel and just wandered the streets for a few hours. It was so peaceful and quaint. The neighborhood we stayed in was right next to the imperial palace which was free to explore. There were so many beautiful temples and shrines to explore! Would recommend the Fushimi Inari and the gion district for anyone visiting.

Top Spots to Visit:

Snag a reservation for a modern kaiseki dining experience. Tip: The tasting menu changes seasonally and the chef’s plating is pure art — go for an early dinner so you can wander the lantern-lit alleys of Gion after.

2. Gion Elite Terrace (44-21 Bishamonchō, Higashiyama-ku)
Staying here is next-level for family or group trips! The rooms are surprisingly large, with round bathtubs (try the bubble bath machine for pure relaxation). Some suites even come with a private sauna. I loved the lobby’s free hot cocoa and enzyme baths — perfect for chilly Kyoto evenings. Staff are super helpful, and multilingual (English and Chinese) if you need. Early check-in was a breeze for me!

Local tip: Don’t miss watching the Gion temple area at sunset. It’s magical when the day crowds fade and the lanterns glow. After dinner, wander the alleys for zen vibes and street performances.

Kyoto’s metro and buses connect you to all Gion hotspots. Get an IC card for convenience and recharge at any station.

For your itinerary, start with an early evening stroll down Sannenzaka & Ninenzaka (2-chome, Masuya-cho, Higashiyama-ku). 

The area is open all day, but the real magic begins after dark: the crowds thin and gentle lantern light bathes the lanes, inviting calm exploration and dreamy photos. 

Next, wander over to Hōkan-ji Temple—Yasaka Pagoda (清水八坂上町388, opening hours 10:00–15:00).
