Friends who like fried food love it. It's delicious, I like the prawns and crab claws. The place is not big, so it can only accommodate a few people. However, this kind of Japanese civilian food is still loved by many people, and it tastes great with rice.
Based on the good reviews online, I made a special trip to Asakusa to check out Sansei. I took the subway from Rikugien Gardens to Asakusa, but the Tokyo Metro Card wasn't accepted yet, so I had to take the Yamanote Line to Ueno. Luckily, it wasn't a long walk from Asakusa Station; I saw Sansei right outside the station. We arrived around 8:00 AM, and the restaurant was completely empty. I thought it was closed. But as soon as we sat down, four more tables arrived. We didn't order a set meal, but instead ordered a fried shrimp platter and a fried seafood dish. The total cost was nearly 6,000 yen. Unexpectedly, the fried shrimp platter also included seafood. The seafood wasn't a fried seafood platter, but a large pancake filled with shrimp and squid. The seasoning was bland and the flour coating was thick. The shrimp was okay, but the seafood was greasy. It wasn't worth the trip.
This place makes the tempura perfectly, it tastes amazing, the ingredients are fresh, it's fantastic!
