It mainly serves hot pot and barbecue, and the dining environment is nice.
Laos is a place for a slow pace. Every day, I spent my days wandering the streets, eating and drinking, and discovering all sorts of fascinating local cuisine. There's creative Laotian cuisine with a vibrant atmosphere by the Mekong River, cozy little shops hidden in alleyways, and even run-down, affordable local eateries. I'm sharing my 10 favorite restaurants with you—all in Luang Prabang! 1⃣️Bamboo Tree Lao: Laotian specialties by the Nam Khan River. Enjoying the river view from the street is a uniquely romantic Luang Prabang experience. Meals 2 and 5 are highly recommended; the fried noodles and tom yum goong are both delicious. Prices are over 80 yuan per person. 2⃣️Khiem Khan Barbecue: I highly recommend this Laotian barbecue place! It's a true local place, and for over 20 yuan per person, you can eat until you're stuffed. Most importantly, it's delicious! That night, there were only a few locals in the place, no tourists except us. The owner was also very nice and gave me extra vermicelli noodles for free. We were all surprised at how they managed to make such a low price, so we had to tip generously. There was even a cute dog in the shop, which was a truly heartwarming memory. 3⃣️Phonheuang Cafe: This little corner gem in a quiet alley is always bustling with customers. They serve simple local fare; the fried spring rolls and rice noodles were both quite good. Price: 30 per person. 4⃣️Tamarind: This restaurant is similar in style to Bamboo Tree, offering a wide selection of Laotian specialties. The set menus are extensive, and they also offer specialty wines and desserts, and the decor is lovely. Price: 80+ per person. 5⃣️Saffron Coffee: This cafe by the Mekong River offers a variety of simple meals and is perfect for brunch or afternoon tea. With both riverside and indoor seating, it's a popular spot for a casual meal. Price: 50 per person. 6⃣️The Nameless BBQ Stall at the Night Market: This is the second-to-last stall at the end of the night market. The grilled chicken wings, pork belly, and fish are all delicious. The fruit smoothies at the stall next door are incredible. 20,000 kip a cup, super rich, and I can't stop thinking about them, wanting to drink them every day. 7⃣️Streetside Rice Noodle Shop: This unassuming little shop is located on the street just outside the My Ban Lao hotel. Walk right, then right, then right again. Just follow the route. Many locals eat rice noodles here. They offer three soup bases, and I recommend the coconut broth, which is delicious. You can add various ingredients like pork tripe, heart, and lungs. The average price per person is 10-15 yuan. 8⃣️Rice Noodle Shop at the Morning Market: I stumbled upon this shop at the morning market. Rice noodles are a must in Laos; you won't miss any of them. Pork rice noodles are 10 yuan a bowl, and beef ones are about 14 yuan. 9⃣️Dada Cafe: The best coffee shop I had in Labang. A latte is 10 yuan a cup. Sitting outside and looking out at the Mekong River is so relaxing. 🔟Joma Bakery: A famous local coffee shop with delicious bread. There are two locations in Luang Prabang, but I prefer the one that's off the foreigner's street. #LaosLuang Prabang #LaosFood #SoutheastAsianFood
