Every time I'm in the car, I can't help but look both ways.
At the beginning of the year, on my way home one night, I was pleasantly surprised to see the words "La Bodeguita del Medio" whizzing by on the side of the road! For those of us who've lived in Cuba, it rekindles a special feeling. I immediately pulled out my phone, marked it on Google Maps, and looked forward to having a mojito there!
Address: La Bodeguita del Medio: Cozumel 37, C. U. Benito Juárez, Cuauhtémoc, 06700 Ciudad de México, CDMX
Open from 1:00 PM to 2:00 AM, Tuesdays until 7:00 PM
(I'm not sure if this has changed.)
Before I came to this place, all the rum-based cocktails I'd had in Mexico always felt less flavorful than those in Cuba. Perhaps they used less rum. The first sip of this tavern's mojito brought me back to a bodegas in Cuba. It tasted exactly the same... Highly recommended. We ordered a whole table full of food and were so engrossed in it that we didn't even take any photos. Besides Cuban food, we also had Mexican food, black bean rice, and fried bananas. It brought back so many memories!!
The mojito is definitely my favorite.
