This was pleasant in the summer for lunch in the courtyard, but a big disappointment on an October evening. The bar is out of bounds - table service only. The food was… forgettable. An undercooked not very flavourful stuffed mushroom, totally tasteless sausages (you had to look at them to believe they were actually sausages), a very unimaginative vegetarian cauliflower option, small portions (I am now eating cheese and crackers at home). Sweet waiter though!

Amazing staff- delicious food
We arrived around 8pm. The young man behind the bar explained that due to staff shortages food was not being served. My friend and I had been recommended the pub for food from the Punt company (referred to himself as Ginger Jake!) and having travelled from Yorkshire we were hungry and disappointed in equal measures. After explaining this to the young man behind the bar, we deployed a little bit of Yorkshire charm and persuaded him to cook us 2 burgers (highly recommended) To our delight he agreed and 2 absolutely delicious burgers were served. We would like to thank Tom (the young man behind the bar who agreed to feed us) and Charlie the young man who served the food (not sure who cooked the food but a big thankyou to them too!) The guys had clearly had a tough/ busy night but their hospitality, friendliness and helpfulness was off the scale and really appreciated! Thank you Tom and Charlie for looking after us!
