Manhattan Of La Jolla

Like many American restaurants, the squid tastes great, the dim sum is also good, the grilled fish is great, and the American sausage is a little salty.

Wow! The service, the food, the atmosphere, the location - everything was amazing. <br /> We visited, not knowing what we wanted, an Italian steakhouse feel - it was perfect! I loved the meal and my dessert, it was intoxicating! And the server team was so spectacular. We will be back!

The first night my husband and I stayed at the Empress Hotel we decided to eat at the restaurant in the hotel lobby which was called Manhattan. The title of this review says it all. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer which was more than enough. My husband ordered the clam sauce which was good. I had the seafood Cioppino and the broth was especially outstanding. The place has an old school vibe to it and it was very cozy. We finished our meal with ice cream. At this point we knew it was going to be good. We will be back!

A family friend was here for her 50th birthday and we were a group of 75. The food was good, the set menu had 4 courses to choose from and the breeze was a nice bonus. I had the clam chowder which was delicious, freshly made and very hearty. For my main I had the tenderloin which was large and juicy, a little raw in the middle which I think might be too bloody for some but I'm sure you can send it back to the kitchen if you don't like it. The service and atmosphere were good and everyone was enjoying themselves.

Really enjoyed the food and music! They had a special festive dinner menu for the New Year, but there was a lot of choice in every category. Really enjoyed the music, it was a change from the past. Of course, the food and music have always been good the last few times I've been here. It was a good choice.
