The cocktails were surprisingly balanced - not overly sweet, which I appreciate. You could really taste the fresh ingredients. The pianist was lovely, too. A nice, low-key evening.

in the heart of North Beach, Vesuvio Cafe is a place where the past and present collide in a wonderfully timeless way. It’s more than just a cafe; it’s a vibrant piece of San Francisco’s cultural fabric, one that has hosted everyone from Beat Generation poets to modern-day creatives. Stepping inside feels like entering a living museum, with its eclectic decor, vintage photos, and the unmistakable vibe of a place that’s been part of the city’s soul for decades. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between casual comfort and old-school charm. The dark wood paneling, stained-glass windows, and a bar that seems to have stories to tell provide a cozy backdrop for whatever brings you through the door—whether it’s a drink with friends, a quiet corner to read, or a moment to take in the city’s eclectic energy. As for the food, Vesuvio’s menu is a love letter to Italian-American classics. The pizza, thin-crust and flavorful, is a standout, crispy at the edges and topped with the perfect amount of sauce, cheese, and fresh ingredients. But it’s the pasta that really takes center stage here—hearty, satisfying, and comforting, as if prepared in someone’s home kitchen with a personal touch. The spaghetti with marinara sauce is simple but utterly delicious, with a deep, rich flavor that shows care and time in the cooking. There’s also something to be said for the drinks—Vesuvio’s cocktails are as timeless as its history. A classic Negroni or an expertly mixed Martini serves as the perfect companion to the evening, and the wine list, though not exhaustive, is well-chosen to pair with the Italian-inspired dishes. And of course, the vibe here is just as important as the food. There’s a sense of easy camaraderie, whether you’re sitting at the bar chatting with locals or nestled in one of the intimate booths. The service is warm and attentive, with a laid-back yet professional approach that reflects the easygoing spirit of North Beach.

No. 7 of Bars in San Francisco

The drinks are reasonably priced, and the overall vibe of the club is welcoming and enjoyable. Definitely a place to revisit!

Cool spot for a quick drink. The neon lights and that big moon gate are super Instagrammable. Got my cocktail fast, which was perfect. A bit pricey for what it is, but the vibe is unique.

Solid spot for a drink. The cocktails are strong, and they have a fun list with things like jello shots. Bartenders are friendly and kept up the pace even on a packed Friday night. My old fashioned was spot on.
