Taste the Seven Fabled Dishes of China

More than a meal—a culinary journey through China that unfolds with the immersive experience. We weave the terroir and culture of China's seven major regions into seven dishes.

Tasting across seven regions: With China's seven regions as the culinary map, we travel east, south, west, north, centre, Greater Bay Area and Shanghai. Each dish is a portrait of a region's terroir and culture.

Deconstructing the classics: With modern craft we reimagine classic flavours. A single dish such as the Four Small Jiangnan Plates begins with a magnolia bud carved from jiaobai, moves through bud, petal and bridge forms, and ends in an exquisite pagoda carved from celtuce. The tableware is equally considered—shape and material chosen to honour the ingredients' origin and true flavour. Every detail is craftsmanship.

One dish, one pairing—a flavour symphony: Our tea masters and sommeliers pair each dish with a thematic tea or specialty drink, so the flavours echo the dish and deliver a more complete sensory experience.

Full Immersion with Special Costume

So you can lose yourself in this journey through time, we have prepared an exclusive bespoke Hanfu experience for you.

Each styling concept is rooted in deep research into the historical character of China's seven major regions. From patterns to accessories, from fabric to makeup, everything is historically grounded, aiming to faithfully recreate the unique spirit of each place.

A high standard of service: "one set per guest, washed after each use". All garments are professionally cleaned and disinfected; makeup tools are individually packaged for single use – an exclusive and refined experience.

In the carefully chosen attire, the pleats of the mamianqun blend with the immersive scenery; for a moment you are no longer an onlooker – you are in the painting, and every gesture is part of the view.

Taste of China was an amazing dining experience and one of the highlights of our trip. We loved how the restaurant brings together specialties from different regions of China, allowing us to try a variety of authentic flavors in one place. It felt like a culinary journey across the country. The presentation of each dish was stunning—every plate looked like a piece of art with beautiful details and creative plating. You can really see the effort and craftsmanship behind the food. Most importantly, the taste was exceptional. Every dish we tried was flavorful, well-balanced, and memorable. It’s the perfect place for anyone who wants to experience great Chinese cuisine, artistic presentation, and a unique dining experience all in one restaurant.

I originally wanted to book the renowned Shanghai Imperial Banquet to experience authentic imperial cuisine! But it was fully booked two weeks ago 😭 Just then, I saw the newer Taste of China, $788 per person, with a buy-one-get-one-free offer, so I gave it a try 😬 Turns out, it was a great deal! Looking at the 180-degree giant screen, the story of a panda chef traveling across China developing new dishes unfolds~ The panda experiences Chinese culture from Jiangnan, visits the Confucius Temple in Beijing, fishes in Guilin 🎣, and selects fermented bean paste and Sichuan peppercorns 🌶️… The whole thing is narrated in English, which is quite funny 😀 For example, when the panda talks to the living statue of Confucius at the Confucius Temple, he learns the phrase "Serve with respect, live with responsibility." After that, he approaches cooking with more sincerity. P.S. I really listened attentively to the audiobook! 📚😂 Following Chef Panda's journey, we (mostly foreigners, both white and black) instantly saw China, and the scenes were so beautiful! There was Zhangjiajie (where Avatar was filmed), Sayram Lake in Xinjiang, and the Hulunbuir Grassland in Mongolia… I really want to see these natural landscapes and breathtaking scenery with my own eyes sometime! 😙 We ate everything in one go: Jiangnan Four Small Dishes, Peking Duck, Sour Soup Fish, Mapo Tofu, Hot Pot, Dim Sum, and Fermented Rice Balls… It turns out that understanding the stories behind the food really makes it taste better! 😋 The story mentioned that Chef Panda learned how to cook Mapo Tofu, which requires using three-year-aged Pixian Doubanjiang (Sichuan chili bean paste) and Sichuan peppercorns. And the tofu I ate was incredibly flavorful, yet not too spicy! We even added lobster 🦞 and beef as a side dish, which tasted great! Unexpectedly, there was also hot pot at the end. We ate so much that we were 99% full 🤰 and felt bloated for a week 🙃 Each dish was paired with a different Chinese tea, and we tried them all at once: Longjing, Jasmine, Pu'er, Chrysanthemum, and Silver Needle 🍵 I was initially worried that drinking tea all at once would cause my hair to fly off, but after asking the AI, I learned that this is just old superstition and has no scientific basis whatsoever—I learned something new! 😀 Besides food, you can also play paper cutting games, enjoy interactive projection tables, and watch Chinese national treasures performances up close: face changing, kung fu, and dance! A great combination of food and fun 👍 Highly recommend this immersive experience!
