Gran Paradiso National Park

Gran Paradiso National Park was established in 1922 and is a national park in Italy. It is located on the northwestern border of Italy, bordering France, covers an area of 700 square kilometers, is situated in the Italian Alps region, and has an altitude ranging from 800 m at the valley floor to 4,061 m at the Gran Paradiso peak. This national park was initially planned to protect the endangered Alpine ibex and has now become a popular destination for the public to hike, climb, tour, and explore the wonders of the high mountains. Within its territory, according to vertical altitude, it consists of a diverse alpine ecological environment composed of shrub forests and beech forests, larch and fir forests, grasslands and numerous lakes, snow peaks, and glaciers. The park has hiking trails, campsites, and lodges. It is usually accessible from the village of Cogne.
