Cair Castle is located in the town of Cair, South Tipperary County, Ireland, on a small island rock beach in the River Suir. The castle was built in the 13th century and has changed hands several times in history. In the late 14th century, it was governed by the powerful Butler family, and then it was expanded and destroyed many times. Today, the castle retains the main building, tower and original defense structure. There are two courtyards in the castle, which are connected to the nearby sandbanks and riverbanks by several bridges. It is one of the largest and best-preserved castles in Ireland.
