Site of Unit 731 of the Japanese Army that invaded China
The site of Unit 731 of the Japanese Army that invaded China is located in Pingfang District, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province. It is the core evidence site of crimes related to biological warfare, bacteriological warfare research and human experiments by Japanese militarism during World War II.
Disguised as the "Kwantung Army Epidemic Prevention and Water Supply Division," this unit actually conducted inhumane experiments on human beings within its vast base. Using prisoners of war and civilians from China, the Soviet Union, and North Korea as "malu da" (meaning "logs"), they conducted brutal research involving bacterial infections like plague, anthrax, and cholera, as well as frostbite, vivisection, and stress testing. These experiments directly and indirectly resulted in the brutal deaths of thousands, if not tens of thousands, of people.
