Northeast China winter: Around -20°C outdoors and +25°C indoors with extreme temperature differences!! Dressing principle: Base layers should be quick-drying to prevent sweat, layer outerwear for warmth when cold but wearable alone when hot. Jackets/pants/boots should be waterproof (especially for kids as snow easily soaks through).
Parent-child outfit formula:
Tops (4-5 pieces): Quick-dry shirt + thermal underwear + sweater/hoodie + down vest + knee-length down jacket (300g+ fill power)
Bottoms (3 items): Quick-dry pants/long johns + thermal pants/warm pants + windproof/waterproof ski pants (preferably snow-resistant)
Footwear: Cotton/cashmere socks + heated insoles (for cold-sensitive folks) + snow boots/insulated hiking shoes (one size larger than usual)
Accessories: Fleece-lined hat + scarf + gloves (bring 2 pairs - one waterproof pair for snow play and one fleece touchscreen pair for phone use) + ear muffs + thick face mask (not disposable, for wind protection)
Electronic devices: Mobile phones, cameras, power banks, etc., are prone to shutting down due to low temperatures during prolonged outdoor activities. It's advisable to keep them in inner pockets.
Skincare products: toiletries, sunscreen, moisturizer, sunglasses (strong glare and UV rays in sunny and snowy conditions, dry indoor heating - ensure proper sun protection and moisturizing)
Others: Common medications + snacks + ID card/small amount of cash + hand warmers (lifesaver for southerners) + thermos (for hot water & water tossing to create ice)
