Aifur: A Viking Epic Feast in Stockholm
Location and Spatial Archaeology
Dominating Stockholm's Old Town on Skeppsholmen (Address: Västerlånggatan 68B, 111 29), this immersive space is modeled after 8th-century Viking longships. The entrance features a replica of the Uppsala stone pillar, while the interior boasts vaulted ceilings constructed from century-old oak ship beams. Handwoven rune tapestries adorn the walls, and dining tables are crafted from solid shield-shaped cast copper. Candlelight refracts off the silver armor of a Mithras statue, creating dappled shadows.
Historical Restoration Project
The chef draws inspiration from the ancient text "Records of Sea Pirates":
- Roasting whole animals daily in the courtyard according to Viking law
- Slow-cooking with geothermal heat using an archaeologically discovered clay "cooking pit"
- The mead follows the golden ratio of "honey and blood" from the legends of Valhalla.
Restoration of Epic Menu
- "Odin's Raven":
- Charcoal-grilled deer heart with rye flatbread and juniper berry blood sauce
- "Feast of Thor":
- Wild boar grilled on volcanic stone with wild berry mead sauce
- "Freya's Tears":
- Salted herring with amber onions and dill snow
- "Valhalla":
- Honeycomb malt cake with curd and elderflower nectar
Viking Ceremony
- Welcome mead served in a horn cup upon entry
- Bards play the epic "Edda" on the tar.
- Braves can win double desserts through arm wrestling.
