Amazing tour guide. Helpful, friendly, and good communication. Unfortunately I was disappointed at the end they dropped me to walk 10 minutes with my luggage after a long day hiking. It’s not like we were late and the driver needed to be somewhere. Simply the driver refused to drive a few 350 meters to drop me.★

This itinerary is well-designed, offering a little over 4 hours of activity. The canyon has two areas: the valley and the platform. The 1.2km walk from the entrance to the valley takes about an hour, allowing for sightseeing and photo opportunities. A rest stop at the end usually completes the round trip in about 2 hours. The platform offers a more spectacular view from its elevated position; a downhill walk also takes about 2 hours round trip. Hiking is usually the most convenient way to get there, while taking the shuttle bus back is the most convenient. However, during lunchtime (13:00-14:30), the shuttle bus stops running for an hour, which can be inconvenient for those with limited time. Many returning tourists (who need to get to other attractions like the lake) can't wait and walk or even run back, which is uncomfortable in the scorching sun. The platform shuttle bus is a 4-6 person electric vehicle. If there are no passengers on the outward journey, there will be no return journey. Some tourists take the electric vehicle, get off to take a few photos, and then return the same way, without having time to appreciate the platform's beauty – a real pity.
Our driver/guide was a local who speaks Mandarin; he was very kind and helpful, making us feel at ease. The travel agency in Shandong was very responsible. They had a WeChat group before the trip to share information and ensure the trip went smoothly, which deserves praise.★

I had an amazing experience on this tour to Kaindy Lake, Kolsai Lake, and the canyon. It was truly a memorable trip from start to finish.
Our tour guide, Didi, did an excellent job. She was incredibly friendly, spoke very good English, and made everyone feel comfortable. What really stood out was how she interacted with everyone and even remembered each person’s name, which made the experience feel more personal and welcoming.
The scenery was absolutely breathtaking. Even though the lakes were covered with snow and ice, it created a unique and magical landscape that was different from the usual views. It was definitely a special experience to see it in this season.
We also had lunch at a guest house, which was a pleasant surprise. The place was very clean, and the food was delicious, adding even more enjoyment to the trip.
Overall, it was a wonderful tour, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.★

I participated in this tour as a solo traveler, and on the day I took it, there were many other solo travelers. The conversations among the participants were lively, especially on the bus (van) ride there. The places visited on this tour are all difficult to reach without public transportation, so a tour like this is efficient, and I'm glad I participated.
Our guide, Rustam, made the tour exciting and actively engaged in conversation. We were able to experience the beauty of nature, and it was a tour that made me glad I went to Kazakhstan.
On the other hand, the tour started at 4:30 AM and ended at 9:00 PM, so it might be a bit difficult for those with small children.

We had a great experience doing this tour with Nursultan, our guide for the days in Almaty. The Charyn Canyon is a very beautiful and huge place, a little bit far from Almaty, but perfectly suitable for a day trip. I was with my wife and kids (7 and 3 years old) and we do recommend it! Don't forget to take your flip-flops and swimsuits, because the water is very inviting in the end of the track.
