▲ The Saint Chapel (La Sainte-Chapelle) is a Gothic-style chapel built between 1242 and 1248 under the orders of King Louis IX. It was constructed to house precious relics from Christ's Passion, including the Crown of Thorns, fragments of the True Cross, and over 20 other valuable artifacts. The Crown of Thorns alone was considered more valuable than the cost of building the Saint Chapel.
