▲ The "Pull-Pull Ferry" at Biancheng Chadong Scenic Area is a unique attraction on the Qingshui River. With a history dating back to the Zhenghe era of the Northern Song Dynasty, this nearly thousand-year-old ferry served as a crucial waterway node for "Sichuan Salt Entering Hunan." Its distinctive crossing method relies not on paddles or poles, but on the ferryman pulling the boat along an iron cable using a notched wooden stick. It gained fame through Shen Congwen's novel "Hong'an Ancient Town," where it was vividly depicted as the livelihood of Cuicui's grandfather. Today, it stands as the core cultural tourism project of Hong'an Ancient Town attraction, allowing visitors to admire the crystal-clear waters of Qingshui River and the stilt houses along its banks while experiencing rich traditional charm.
